I am mocking you. Period. End of story. Posted by Robert_Ingersoll 2009-12-15 11:38:52
You voted for Obama. Nixon laughs at you Sockpuppet Erectus.

That movie is popularly referred to as "Dances with Smurfs". Thanks, but no thanks. And, sure, it is possible to recycle a story and make it interesting and involving. But by all reports, this is heavy handed, simplistic and preachy, full of self-hate and told without subtlety. For all the special effects (which I am sure are spectacular enough considering the technology and money spent on it), I am not quite willing to be dazzled by them to the degree that I am willing to overlook overbearing cliche-ridden propaganda that this movie is reported to be.
This surprises me. Not that there is a political movie or anything but that with this massive a budget they would risk turning off any audience segment.
Leftists firmly believe in three lies they tell themselves daily: a) they are the mainstream (or ought to be), b) they comprise the vast majority of Americans, and c) America is a stupid place full of stupid people (except for NYC and LA); it's the Europeans they should emulate and impress.

No we are just making fun of you, its a movie, get over yourself allready.
Avatar = Dances With Wolves. Only the natives are blue and there are explosions in it.

May as well call it "Bush Lied in 3D: A Thinly Veiled Allegory for the Iraq War". It's every liberal cliche about America and the Iraq War rolled into one. Angry combat-crippled Marines loot a planet for resources, one of them falls in love with the oh-so-righteous hippie-gaia natives, and his buddies come back and kill everyone for revenge.
But the first trailers for the movie looked bad enough. Yeah, nothing I want to see more than a move where hundreds of blue Jar-Jars are the main characters.

So the movie is out to get you? hahahahahahahahahah... Posted by Robert_Ingersoll 2009-12-15 08:56:30
I assumed your silly dictionary comment was designed to mock the fact conservatives view hollywood as hopelessly leftist - not that you thought conservatives believed the actual movie, "Avatar" was literally out to 'get us.' The fact I have to explain this to you is embarrasing. Either you actually believed that conservatives think the movie is out to get us, or you are making an extremely piss poor attempt to twist words and meaning to get in an insult (and a particularly bland one at that).
At first I thought I wanted to see the movie, until I saw the trailer. I grow tired of the humans are the bad guys deal. I grow tired of the poor portrayal of military types and the hate USA stuff.
America is a unique country and the best around. No it isn't perfect, nothing created by man is perfect, but it is the best. Can it be ruined, yes, can it be improved yes. Another USA will never rise again so we should look to keep this one around.
I just want to be entertained, is that too much to ask for from our "entertainment" industry?

Yeah, I am surprised that people are surprised about the political heavy handedness of this thing. I have no intention of seeing it. I don't care how pretty a movie is, I've no interest in a couple of more hours of childish leftist sermonizing wrapped up in a very thin layer of entertainment.

If you watch Aliens again you'll notice that the Coloniel Marines are right out of the Vietnam movie playbook down to the helmets and the incompetant Lieutenant. They did not represent the military as of 1986.
Yeah the story didn't just look old and dull (and a rehash of an old sci fi story) but pretty much hard left. I guess he leaves no talking point unlabored.
Why are so many people surprised that Avatar is a left-wing movie? How exactly did you miss the incredibly blatant left-wing propaganda oozing out of the trailer?
