Shirley Sherrod Resigns After Racist Remarks

So, one of the big stories from Monday was the racist remarks by USDA official Shirley Sherrod to the NAACP, highlighted by Big Government. And now

A black USDA official in Georgia has resigned after publicly admitting she didn’t help a white man trying to save his farm to the “full force” of her power and instead referred him to “own of his own.”

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said he had accepted Shirley Sherrod’s resignation, saying there was “zero tolerance for discrimination at USDA.”

Of course, Sherrod and other liberals are saying it was all taken out of context. If so, why did she resign? And why so darned quick?

Anyhow, the NAACP actually did jump in and denounce her blatant racism, whether because they truly believe it, or for political appearances, we do not know

NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous agreed with the USDA’s decision to accept Sherrod’s resignation and said the official had abused her power.

“Racism is about the abuse of power,” Jealous said.

“Sherrod had it in her position at USDA. According to her remarks, she mistreated a white farmer in need of assistance because of his race.

“We are appalled by her actions, just as we are with abuses of power against farmers of color and female farmers.

“Her actions were shameful. While she went on to explain in the story that she ultimately realized her mistake, as well as the common predicament of working people of all races, she gave no indication she had attempted to right the wrong she had done to this man.”

Yes, at Sherrod’s appearance where the video was taken, people were laughing and agreeing. No one was denouncing her. Jealous has further stated “The reaction from many in the audience is disturbing. We will be looking into the behavior of NAACP representatives at this local event and take any appropriate action.”

Now we await Obama to denounce her. Heck, he denounces every private citizen who disagrees with him. Will he have the cajones to decry this?
