Life Worth Fighting For: In Opposition To Roe v. Wade On The 37th Anniversary Last Week

I love this week. I love that fact that so many folks come to town and we celebrate life. The pro life movement is that one interest group involved in public policy with nothing to gain financially – they simply do it because it’s the right thing to do, because it’s the truth. It shows a uniqueness and real concern people have about this fundamental issue.Thank you for understanding what the Founding Fathers understood. The Founders got it right because no other country was founded on the premise this country was founded on.

Those words that started the Declaration of Independence – next to scripture – are the greatest lines ever put on paper:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Two things jump out at you. The first and most basic is that there is a Creator. We get these rights from Him and not from government. Our rights are from God because we are created in His image. Can you pursue your goals and dreams if you first don’t have liberty or freedom? And do you ever have those if government doesn’t protect your fundamental right to life?In this, optimism is our greatest ally. If we continue to put an optimistic face on the gift of life and speak the truth, we’ll win the fight ahead.
