Richard Mourdock Was Right To Stand Up For Life & Liberals Are Wrong To Be So Determined To See Babies Die

Nobody gets more of a thrill out of the idea of a baby being ripped to pieces than a liberal. In fact, modern liberalism favors slaughtering children with a zeal that not even the ancient Aztecs could match. Liberals are all about seeing as many babies die as possible before they’re discarded in some abortionist’s dumpster and woe be it to any conservative who suggests that every child is important, has a right to live, and is a creation of God.

For example, take Richard Mourdock. Last night, he made what should be a completely non-controversial remark to any Christian.

“I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize that life is that gift from God. And, I think, even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen.”

Liberals who lust to see as many babies die as humanly possible, have twisted that simple statement every which way you can imagine. What Mourdock said isn’t even remotely comparable to Todd Akin’s comments (which I ferociously criticized despite the fact that I would much prefer him to Claire McCaskill); it’s not saying “God endorses rape” or any of the other silliness the Left is trying to claim it does.

It’s a simple statement of Christian faith, explaining why Richard Mourdock stands up for the life of unborn children.

PS: In an ideal world, I think abortion would be illegal unless there was a danger to the life of the mother. After all, an innocent child shouldn’t be held responsible for the evil done by his father. That being said, as a practical matter, I believe in making abortion illegal except in the case of rape, incest, or danger to the life of the mother. That’s because most Americans recognize that having a child is a great responsibility and they don’t believe that it should be thrust upon a woman unwillingly after she was victimized. Since incest and rape are a tiny percentage of actual pregnancies, I don’t believe in making perfect the enemy of the good. I believe a majority of the American people could accept making abortion illegal except in the case of rape, incest, or danger to the life of the mother, but I don’t think they’d accept it without exceptions for rape and incest. That’s not fair to the innocent children who would be killed as a result, but it’s better to push a more politically feasible position that can save 98% of the children whose lives are at risk from abortion than to try to save all of them and fail.

PS #2: Richard Mourdock released a brief statement tonight.

“God creates life, and that was my point. God does not want rape, and by no means was I suggesting that He does. Rape is a horrible thing, and for anyone to twist my words otherwise is absurd and sick,” stated Richard Mourdock.
