Afghan Ambassador Who Met Both Trump and Obama Reveals the Difference

During an interview at his home, the Afghan ambassador to the United States, Hamdullah Mohib, disclosed that his conversations with the President have shown him that Donald Trump doesn’t just want to kick the can down the road, but rather he “wants to win”[1] the war on terror in Afghanistan.

Is that even possible? The diplomat compared that attitude to the one of Obama:

“All the (President Barack) Obama administration wanted to do was not lose.”

According to reports given, the conversation came during a dinner for Gold Star wives that Mohib had put together back in March.

His characterization of the President also appeared to drive out the media depiction of Trump as intellectually lacking:

“I’ve personally met with President Trump at Mar-a-Lago and the president has had two phone conversations with (Afghan) President Ghani.”

“One call was after he won the election and one after (Trump) became president. Before the calls, we were advised to keep conversations short because, we were told, Trump will not be interested in the details of the call and does not have a long attention span, so it would be pointless to have a long call.”

That’s still the what the media is pushing and really, I still believe that’s generally true about the guy. But he has surprised before and he’s capable of doing the job.

“However, we were pleasantly surprised at how much time President Trump spent asking very informed questions. The first time the presidents spoke, the questions Trump asked impressed us. ‘How can you win in this fight (against terrorism)?’ he asked. ‘What do you need to become financially independent?’ and ‘How can American business invest in Afghanistan? How can we develop businesses and mining in your country?’”

Mohib claimed that just that was a huge improvement from the Obama administration.

“Asking these types of questions for our country is something the Obama administration never did. The Obama administration was the most academic administration we have ever had to deal with, but the Trump administration has been the most thoughtful and intelligent.”

Now that isn’t reported on CNN, is it? The President lacks finesse, that is sure…but Afghanistan is one place that doesn’t need finesse. It needs an open season on ISIS and the Taliban.

In John Hawkins’ new book ‘101 Things All Young Adults Should Know’, he teaches in number 13, “Men should embrace their masculinity and women should embrace their femininity.” That’s exactly what the Middle East expects out of men. Soft academics don’t get respect in their world.
