Quick Analysis Of Obama’s Foreign Policy Speech
Written By : John Hawkins

These notes were jotted down as a I watched Obama speak. I wanted to get them out first thing, before I heard what everyone else had to say.

* Obama’s starting to look a little more grey.

* By the time I got into office Afghanistan was falling apart. Not so.

* I ordered 30,000 additional troops into Afganistan — which was less than the generals wanted. He also put a timeline in place, which told the Taliban they could just wait us out.

* We are meeting our goals. Everything in Afghanistan is super!

* We’re bringing the whole “surge” home by next summer.

* We’re in a position of strength. Everything’s going great in Afghanistan. Funny, that’s not what we’re hearing from people in Afghanistan.

* Oh boy, we have a summit next year! That will fix everything!

* We’re leaving; so we’re arranging talks with the Taliban. We won’t be there to protect you. Good luck, fellas!

* As long as I’m President there will never be a safe haven for terrorists. Does anyone believe that? Anyone?

* Some want isolationism; others want to fight everywhere — but we must be pragmatic and only go off into half-cocked wars, as I have in Libya.

* We have no troops on the ground in Libya. Good, but not good enough.

* We will support Middle-Eastern revolutions with fidelity to our ideals. Course, we’re not really doing that.

* We must spend more money, while living within our means!

* No, our nation really doesn’t draw strength from our differences.

* He’s so emotionless when he talks about soldiers dying or the country. He’s like an alien going through the motions and trying to pretend to feel as humans do.

Summary: Obama has a workmanlike, not particularly charismatic delivery. He may get a small, temporary bump from starting to pull troops out of Afghanistan, but this is really a long-term game. It was a terrible idea to set a deadline in the first place, he’s going against the advice of his generals, and as long as it works fine, he won’t pay a price. Of course, if there are problems, he will be quite rightly blamed for unnecessarily risking the gains we’ve made in Afghanistan for purely political reasons. This whole speech is about 2012. He thinks it’ll be more popular to pull the troops out; so he’ll do that. Let’s hope his foolish risk pays off. If it doesn’t, then in the end, a lot of good men may die so that a politician could throw away their sacrifice.

” I’m fantastic, smarter than you, and since this is all Bushs fault I’m gonna fix it … well…. Ok… Only if I get’s me reelected”

And he did fix it. Dont forget who was the boss when Bin laden got his. Dont forget who put the proper amount of boots on the ground.

      What goal is left

      Kill Bin laden…….check
      Rout the Taliban…….check
      Open a wall mart….. check ( I think)

If Obama gets the credit for bin Laden – which I agree he should, he also gets the credit for the economy.  Let’s look at some numbers provided by the Bureau of Labor and Statistics and the Department of Energy.

We’ll compare inauguration day to today.

        Gallon of gas:  $1.83 / $3.74 (+104%)
        Unemployment: 7.3% / 9.1% (+25%)
        National Debt:  $10.6T / $14.3T (+35)

Every economic indicator is worse now than it was when Obama was inaugurated.

        Your list should include:
        Kill the economy…… check

No see, through the magic of hypocrisy Obama is personally responsible only for the good things that happen on his watch.

          Everything else is Bushs fault.

        • Cheese Whiz

Apples and oranges. Obama wanted a bigger stimulus and the republicans suddenly grew concerned about deficits (when a larger stimulus would have had a larger stimulative effect, and republicans would look like fools).

Democrats passed the Affordable health care act to try and control escalating health care costs, and republicans cried “death panels” (biggest lie of 2009) because Obama’s policy success would benefit the people, but it would be the republican’s failure. Party before people, that’s republicans for you.

the only impact the stimulus had was to increase the deficit with no positve results. More stimulus would equal a higher deficit and a worse economy.

you aren’t very intelligent are you?

Well it’s pretty obvious to anyone with a brain anyway?

Thank you for proving republican economics is ass backwards, tricky one. We are experiencing the failure of trickle down unregulated economics, republican style.

The stimulus saved us from a depression. You think things are bad now, they would have been worse without the stimulus.

Of course, your economic philosophy is what got us in this situation, a fact you continually try to deflect, so no one cares what you think. No one.

5 times the casualty rate in Afghanistan…. check.

What is left? How about victory?

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michelle-Hart/100001365605444 Michelle Hart

        And he did fix it.

By voting againt the surge Bush & Petraus recomended

Dont forget who was the boss when Bin laden got his.

By voting to eliminate Gitmo, military courts, and to cut off funding

Dont forget who put the proper amount of boots on the ground.

Waiting months to make a decision, claiming it would fail, insulting allies

        What goal is left
        Kill Bin laden…….checkRout the Taliban…….checkOpen a wall mart….. check ( I think)

The Seal teams killed OBL…. The taliban is resurging and idiot boy wants to “negotiate” with them, oh and your moronic messiah could figure out how to open a lemonade stand…..

Tell me Michelle what goal is left?

My guess is 20 or 30% unemployment, another 10 Trillion in debt, more aplogizing, more waffleing, more golf, it’s hard to tell when everything odumbo says is a lie and he destroys everything he touches??

        • Cheese Whiz

Deflect deflect deflect. Michelle, get some rest. You menopause is acting up

the policies started under the Bush Administration and reluctantly carried out by the Obama Administration led to the execution of Bin Laden. The information came from Gitmo and other CIA interrogations.

“And he did fix it. ”

By “fix,” do you mean “abandon” or “completely screw up?” Either redefinition will do.

Short history on Afghanistan. The Taliban Mullah was beholden to Ben Laden because Ben Laden had supplied a lot of resources to help defeat the Russians.  Ben Laden hit the USA on 911 and Bush demanded that the Taliban give up Ben Laden or face the wrath of the USA. The Taliban Mullah felt honor bound to protect Ben Laden. The US kicked the Taliban’s butt and then Bush took his eye off the ball by invading Iraq. Under the Taliban,  Ben Laden found safe harbour until Obama became POTUS and refocused back on the real goal (taking out Ben Laden).  The refocused effort succeeded.  Obama can claim “mission accomplished.”  Afghanistan will never change. It is a tribal nation ruled by hard ass tribal leaders. Now that Ben Laden is dead, it is time to declare victory and bring the troops home.

You were doing okay until you got to this embarrassing bit of revisionism:
“Under the Taliban, bin Laden found safe harbour”
So in your world, the Taliban = Pakistani government? Because that’s who’d be hiding/abetting OBL for years when ST6 finally ventilated his arse.
      “Afghanistan will never change.”
Not only is that a rather bigotted thing to say, its also demonstrably incorrect. Think about the Japanese, pre-WWII; they literally believed the Emperor was a god on earth and had for a thousand years… today, not so much.

Casualties also soared under the Obama ROE.

“Bush took his eye off the ball by invading Iraq”

As we’ve been telling you ignorant fools for nearly a decade, “the ball” was ending State support for terrorism — not killing one man. To that end, Saddam Hussein was removed from power after he continued to play head games with us. I keep wondering what you Leftists loved so much about him that you lament his passing so loudly and so often.

Yet they are all for getting Quadaffi (S/P?).  Wonder what he did to piss off the left?  He and Hussein are of the same cloth and yet the   left is still bitching about taking Hussein out, but are all for taking out the former.
