Alabama’s AG Troy King Should Withdraw From Race
9 Feb 2010
11:29 am
I first posted on Alabama’s re-election seeking Attorney General, Troy King, due to an ongoing grand jury investigation. I’ll return to that, as I’d rather not dwell too long on what’s below. But it needs to be addressed.
The special grand jury met Wednesday at the federal courthouse in Montgomery. King’s chief of staff, Chris Bence, emerged from the grand jury room shortly before 4 p.m. with his attorney, Joe Espy. Bence confirmed his appearance before the panel.
Unfortunately, as both Stacy McCain and I discovered va Google, a rather ugly scandal involving …

We Need To Support Andy McKenna In Ill Gov Race
29 Jan 2010
3:32 pm
Jim Ryan, whose finance director was convicted as part of the Tony Rezko kerfuffle, is targeting Andy McKenna with bogus attacks because he knows McKenna’s the guy to beat for a run-off. Redstate seems to appreciate the wisdom in supporting McKenna.
I know folks in the McKenna camp. He’s a rather establishment fella, but not bad and would be much more acceptable than Dillard.
While I appreciate some emotional support for Andrzejewski, perhaps due to a Lech Walesa endorsement, the problem is, Andrzejewski is bringing up the rear in a five candidate race. And it’s likely …

Health Care Talks Collapsing Amid Infighting, Lack Of Leadership
21 Jan 2010
9:14 pm
With some Democrats increasingly angry over the lack of clear leadership by the White House on health care, finger-pointing and political concerns have Democrats scrambling for answers that don’t seem to be coming. Various sides have their plans, but that’s part of the problem. Also, Olympia Snowe is signaling she’s not interested in rejoining any negations. It’s sounding as though any efforts to reach out to more liberal Republicans on the matter have so far failed to provide a workable path. Tick, tick, tick.
They all want to pass something. But …

The Details: Coakley, Amirault, Woodward And Souza
15 Jan 2010
7:11 am
After reading a post by Michelle Malkin that mentions the issue of an over-zealous prosecution by Martha Coakley in the Amirault case, and also following up on a link by Instapundit to a Radley Balko item, I first went digging around to see if Coakley had ever commented on the Amirault case. Coakley declined to be interviewed for Dorothy Rabinowitz’s recent damning article in the WSJ dealing with Amirault.
That’s when I stumbled upon an extensive cached Boston Globe article from 1999. While perhaps a glowing portrait of Coakley at the time, in hindsight, it details how Amirault was not …

Why Is Coakley Hiding Out?
3 Jan 2010
1:45 pm
My introduction to the less superficial elements of the race to fill Ted Kennedy’s seat in the Senate came via the blogging efforts of Sissy Willis. The notion that we can strike a blow against ObamaCare with this race was interesting. Today, I came upon this. What’s the deal? Sign on to the party of Kennedy in the right state, keep your mouth shut and you’ll be a Senator? Is that what our politics should be about right now? The debates taking place in Washington today are too important for more of …

Dems Join Call To Oust Napolitano
1 Jan 2010
4:52 pm
She’s the one who’s ultimately going to fall on her sword, I believe. Her Sunday appearances were simply too poor a reflection on Obama. And Obama’s rhetoric has been too harsh for everyone to survive.
It isn’t as if she has that much pertinent experience, she was a manager and a political hack, at best. She’ll no doubt get some other plumb somehow in the deal. Her going will be as corrupted by politics as was her coming.
All of Obama’s decisions seem political. This one won’t be much different. But I …

Prez Pal Ayers Inciting Protests In Egypt, Hard Left Abandons Obama
1 Jan 2010
4:06 pm
The media is beginning and ending a year as shamefully in the bag for Obama as they’ve ever been. Meanwhile, Obama pal Ayers is in Egypt with Code Pink and the hard Left that raised him up has abandoned Obama.
One report via RBO and WND, with additional info at Big Government. And the group once known as Progressives for Obama is now attacking Obama with some harsh rhetoric. Code Pink seems to be leading the effort. I doubt Obama minds too much, as the press won’t use them to attack him as …

CNN’s Sanchez Ambushes Ensign: Forget Terror, Let’s Talk Sex
31 Dec 2009
5:33 pm
How special. Video below via Teagan Goddard. The network that unceasingly told us sex was a personal issue during the Clinton years has suddenly discovered the error of its ways after inviting John Ensign on to talk about the recent attempted terror attack. Ensign’s issues aside, are we supposed to believe this is simply good journalism from CNN? They aren’t even capable of it anymore.

Palin / Bachman To Headline National Tea Party Event
26 Nov 2009
10:29 pm
Hmm. CNN claims to have confirmed Sarah Palin’s role as keynote for a Nashville-based Tea Party event in February. The conference is being dubbed the first National Tea Party event. Formally speaking, perhaps. Though I suspect many who went to Washington’s protest might disagree. But this is being called a convention.
Very interesting as they are both Republicans and well received by the Tea Party crowd. I’m unclear of some of the different Tea Party organizations and how that plays into all this. It should be quite an event no matter what. But …

Joe Arpaio Pushes Back On Illegal Immigration Enforcement
17 Oct 2009
9:41 am
When I first noted that the Feds were looking to limit Arpaio’s authority to enforce immigration laws, I said there were State’s Rights issues involved. Looks like Arpaio noticed that, too.
SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) — An Arizona sheriff known for cracking down on people who are in the country illegally launched a crime and immigration sweep in northwestern metro Phoenix on Friday, a half day after officials in Washington limited his powers to make federal immigration arrests.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, whose sweeps have led to allegations of racial profiling, said …

Sue Lowden: Run Reid Out Of Office
16 Oct 2009
6:21 pm
Had a blogger conference call today with Sue Lowden of Nevada, the Republican front runner to take down Harry Reid in 2010. I had looked her over some when I did this post on the hypocritical attacks already being launched against her. Lowden spoke of knowing she’s in for a tough fight and claims to be prepared for it.
At one point, Fausta Wertz brought up the Palin treatment. Lowden appreciated the comparison, saying she was a fan of Palin, seeing herself as similar in many ways, including on political views.
In what I …

Dem Hypocrisy Abounds In Lowden Attack
8 Oct 2009
5:59 pm
I’m not sure what’s more troubling here, the incredible hypocrisy underlying Democrat attacks on potential Harry Reid challenger, Sue Lowden of Nevada, or the fact that, every time a Republican woman raises her head she’s unfairly attacked. And leave it to liberal Rachel Maddow to lead the charge. No air time for a bit on Charlie Rangel, I’d bet. As you’ll see from links and video below, they want desperately to link Lowden to John Ensign, all in an effort to protect the oh so vulnerable Harry Reid.
So, what has Reid …

You Can Stop A Pelosi Democrat On Nov 3
8 Oct 2009
12:51 pm
There’s a tight race shaping up in a special election on Nov 3 for CA – 10. It pits Republican David Harmer against Pelosi Democrat and CA Lt. Gov. John Garamendi. The race has national implications for several reasons.
Not only is Garamendi a tax man, he has been one of the main players in stopping oil drillingoff the CA coast. The alternate plan simply relied on raising taxes on all current oil production. That’s not smart, especially with the economy such as it is. And we don’t need more votes like that …

Chicago Community Leaders Go Under The O-Bus
7 Oct 2009
6:29 pm
Good heavens. The Chicago riff-raff actually thinks they have a place at the table with Obama’s education reformers? It was bad enough they had to put up with the little people when they were back in Chicago. It isn’t as if the people have anything to offer this administration. They already know so much better than us. That’s what led them to cause this problem in the first place. Change! Not!
Community leaders and parents outside Fenger are in disbelief that they are not at the breakfast table with Arne Duncan and …

Rove Backs Rubio In Florida
5 Oct 2009
1:57 pm
Well, there’s an interesting development.
Former Bush political adviser Karl Rove “has signaled his preference” in Florida’s U.S. Senate race “with his wallet.”
Rove confirmed to NBC News “that he has contributed a $1000 to Rubio’s campaign, the donation will be made public when Rubio files his next FEC report (due Oct. 15).”
“This comes on the heels of Jeb Bush’s public signal that he plans to stay neutral in the Crist-Rubio primary; Many believe this is Jeb’s way of quietly telling influential Florida Republicans that he’d prefer Rubio but doesn’t want to …

Reality Sinks Into A Too Liberal Obama-land
2 Oct 2009
4:46 pm
Quite am amazing combination of two You Tube clips via Townhall here and below. The first involves Obama’s Olympian defeat and the concept of Michelle Obama’s noble “sacrifice.”
The second clip involves a press conference around the uncharitable William Henry Gates, Jr. Watch the shock and awe experienced by CNN in both instances. This is the liberal conventional wisdom, that everyone somehow owes an apology to them, struggling to come to terms with reality. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to what most liberals think.
Most Americans more likely …

NC Terrorism Suspect’s Home Searched
30 Sep 2009

It’s getting so it is hard to keep up with all these guys. Anes Subasic – a Bosnian Muslim. Plenty of info and links via Wikio. A CD labeled “September 11, 2001″ in Arabic? Gee, what could that possibly be?
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Federal investigators have searched the home of a North Carolina terrorism suspect, seizing counterterrorism literature, ammunition and portable electronics.
A search warrant released Wednesday shows agents searched the home of Anes Subasic, who was living in Holly Springs with his father. Investigators last Friday gathered flash storage devices, …

Deadline: The Military Vote In NJ and VA
29 Sep 2009
12:02 pm
My friends at ProjectVirginia have a non-partisan effort going to get absentee ballots into the hands of military personnel who want them. The deadline is approaching. Consider this a guest post they put together.
For all the attention paid to the recent voting in Iraq and Afghanistan, one would think that the process for getting absentee ballots to our own service men and women should be simple and straightforward. Unfortunately, it’s a rather convoluted process and easy to miss the deadlines – especially if you’re deployed in a war zone.
For service …

Utah AG Mark Shurtleff: The Bad News Keeps Coming
24 Sep 2009
6:17 pm
I realize the Club for Growth has no love for Senator Bennett in Utah, the problem is, they aren’t in Utah, don’t know likely alternative, AG Mark Shurtleff the way they know Pat Toomey – and once one digs into the details surrounding Shurtleff and his campaign, a genuinely troubling image for conservatives begins to emerge.
First, it appears that Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff may well be violating FEC regulations, while failing to attract the kind of broad support he would need in the Fall if he manages to knock off Bennett in a …

Obama’s Not So Hard Road To Soft Tyranny
21 Sep 2009
11:22 am
Why is the Obama administration destined to fail and be thrown out in four years? This is why and it has nothing to do with race. And when one stops to think about the situation we find ourselves in, it becomes even more troubling.
A new Gallup poll shows that the number of people who believe government has its hand in too many areas of American life has reached its highest point in more than a decade.
The question asked by Gallup was, “Some people think the government is trying to do …
