The Rose Leaf
  15 May 2009     8:57 am

As a follow-up to John’s post “Why Does God Allow Bad Things To Happen To Good People?” I was asked to post a short story I wrote a few years ago. By the way, I’ve been looking for an illustrator to help me make this into a children’s book as well as a publisher who’d want to publish it, if anyone is interested.
The Rose Leafby Danny Carlton

She wasn’t all that much to look at, green, about an inch long with jagged edges, but she was very proud of herself. She …

Is a national 55 MPH speed limit in our near future?
  4 Jul 2008     9:46 am

From CNN…

Congress in 1974 set a national 55 mph speed limit because of energy shortages caused by the Arab oil embargo. The speed limit was repealed in 1995 when crude oil dipped to $17 a barrel and gasoline cost $1.10 a gallon.
As motorists headed on trips for this Fourth of July weekend, gasoline averaged $4.10 a gallon nationwide, with oil hovering around $145 a barrel
It turns out Republican Senator John Warner is leading the charge. If memory serves me correctly, Warner is a RINO, which would explain why he’s …

GOP candidates should have more class
  30 Jul 2007     10:25 am

Facing the embarrassing debacle of a sophomoric debated hosted by the Clinton News Network and various cartoon characters from YouTube, only two GOP candidates, Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani, have had the courage to decline the invitation, and even they claim scheduling conflict (even though Romney has been quoted as saying, "I think the presidency ought to be held at a higher level than having to answer questions from a snowman").
What’s with the rest?
Do they have no dignity, no courage, no sense of propriety?
It was bad enough when Bill Clinton …

The balance of nature and society
  6 Jul 2007     10:05 am

One of the most laughable things about the Global Warming myth is how the chicken-littles so conveniently ignore the balance inherent in the earth’s ecology. Several factors come together to create a self-balancing system when it comes to the temperature of the planet. For one, higher temperatures mean more evaporation from the earth’s oceans, more evaporation, more water content in the atmosphere, less sunlight getting through, lower temperatures. There are several other self-regulating factors that God built into this wonderful planet expressly for the purpose of making Al Gore look …

Draft Fred Thompson
  27 Mar 2007     7:14 am

From WorldNetDaily…
According to an active member of the movement, there are now more than 4,000 volunteers in all 50 states ready to work full-time to make [Fred] Thompson the next president. An additional 6,000 are expected shortly.
One of the reasons a Thompson candidacy is so appealing is because of his successful career in Hollywood. His ability to perform reminds many of the overwhelming support Ronald Reagan had from both Republicans and Democrats.
Thompson first came to the nation’s attention 35 years ago when he served as minority counsel on the Senate …

Rethinking the cause of homosexuality
  26 Mar 2007     8:19 am

From WWJW (MyFox 8) in Cleveland…
[Sara] Wheeler, 36, and her partner, Missy, decided to start a family together and share the Wheeler last name. In 2000, Sara Wheeler gave birth to a son, Gavin, through artificial insemination. Two years later, they decided Missy Wheeler should adopt the child and legally become his second parent.
Georgia law doesn’t specifically say whether gay parents can adopt a child, so the decision was up to a judge in the Atlanta area’s DeKalb County. After an adoption investigator determined that both partners wanted it, the …

Edwards: concerned or crass
  23 Mar 2007     4:58 pm

Maybe it’s because of my distrust of lawyers–and trial lawyers that make millions off suing honest businesses then collecting outrageous fees are at the bottom of that smelly heap. Maybe it’s because I’ve known enough women with breast cancer that I know how personal and private almost all of them see their suffering. But I can’t help feel that Edwards press conference was nothing but a crass, unfeeling attempt to exploit his wife’s suffering for his own political career. I could be completely wrong, and I know most on the …
