Gun Sales Surge, Violent Crime Drops
Its hard to find any optimism with the healthcare disaster so close to being a reality, but glimmers of hope do exist. Democrats are actually pinning their hopes for the midterm on this unpopular healthcare bill. The rest of their strategy is to continue to blame Bush. That my liberal friends are actually celebrating this based off one modest bump in a CNN poll brings the optimism up another notch. Meanwhile the other half of liberals are making lists ...

Barack Obama’s Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings founded the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). The ACLU sent a letter dated Nov. 11 asking the city to “end the unlawful endorsement of religion,” claiming that the city paid for animals used in a Nativity scene. The letter accused the city of violating the First Amendment.
In the letter, the ACLU claimed the city paid $200 for animals used in a Nativity scene co-sponsored by Grace Church of the Nazarene.
Piper confirmed the city spent the money two years ago — ...

Eric Holder called his decision to try the suspected plotters of 9/11 in New York City “the toughest decision I’ve had to make as attorney general.” It was unarguably the most controversial one. In my opinion, it was also the stupidest one. The decision has rightly received plenty of criticism, but what has not been talked about is the months of lobbying behind closed doors that made this happen. Hackbart says that he was attempting to parallel park in April 2006 when he used his middle finger “to express his frustration” at a driver who pulled behind him and blocked his entry into the space.
Upon hearing a voice instruct him not to “flip off” the driver, he “directed his middle finger at the person speaking,” according to the lawsuit. That person turned out to be Sgt. Brian Elledge of the Pittsburgh Police Department.

Here is the problem with hope and change. If you throw around empty phrases like this, and build people’s hopes up with high expectations and utopian ideals, things can only go in one direction…anti-climax. This is especially true if the utiopian ideals are built on a platform of flawed logic. Socialism sounds good to people’s hearts, but human nature will never allow it to succeed. Every proposal of “change” Obama is proposing has been built from a foundation of socialist ideas. ...

Here’s one of those “I agree with the ACLU” stories, that occur around 1% of the time: ACLU protests force-feeding Guantanamo prisoners
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) wrote a letter to US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates Friday protesting the “inhumane and unlawful practice” of force-feeding hunger strikers at Guantanamo Bay prison.
“I am writing to bring your attention to the cruel, inhuman, degrading and unlawful treatment of the thirty hunger striking detainees currently held at the Guantánamo Bay detention facility,” wrote ACLU ...

This was supposed to be the week that the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. returned to the pulpit to preach for the first time since his anti-American sermons generated nationwide outrage and drew condemnation from his longtime parishioner, Barack Obama.
But, citing security concerns, Wright canceled his speaking engagements in Florida and Texas. A spokeswoman at his former church in Chicago said his schedule is pending.

The Ron Paulians must have whined and protested loudly! The Manchester Union Leader reports:
UnionLeader.com has learned that the New Hampshire Republican Party has quit as a co-sponsor of tomorrow night’s nationally televised GOP forum on FOX News. The event had become controversial when FOX refused to include Ron Paul.
In a press release, state Republican Party chairman Fergus Cullen said, “We believe all recognized major candidates should have an equal opportunity to participate in pre-primary debates and forums. This principle applies to tonight’s debates on ABC as well as Sunday’s planned ...

Isn’t it time for us to go back to small government? The video below is a great companion piece to my friend Gribbit’s post: Fred Thompson – Conservative, Strict Constructionist, Federalist

“Before anything else, folks in Washington ought to be asking first and foremost, “Should government be doing this? And if so, then at what level of government?” But they don’t. – Fred Thompson
Something Extra: If you are like me, and unfamiliar with how Iowa politics and Caucuses process works, Carl Cameron does a fair job of explaining it ...

Well, don’t get me wrong…he’s had many, many potential ones. He has had to come back and correct his mis-statements with the media too many times. Why is this one the major one? It is the one that the MSM is actually picking up on. I heard ol’ Carl Cameron on FOX news just say that his response to the Bhutto assassination is really getting to Iowa voters, and that his response wasn’t something worthy of a person wanting the mantle of the Oval Office. ...

Dear Friends,
I am writing to ask for your help.
All of us know the long odds faced by Fred Thompson in his efforts to win the GOP nomination for president. I’m sure you are all aware that Fred has undertaken pretty much of a do or die bus tour of Iowa in order to finish strongly in the Caucuses on ...

It wins the holiday messages from candidates hands down! He completely keeps overt politics out of it, and doesn’t even appear in it! Very classy, and doesn’t even plug his website. The subject matter is right on. This gave me chills. He could have went the overtly political route like Huckabee and Hillary, but he didn’t. I think that speaks volumes.
