Bob Etheridge’s Death Tax Flip Flop
6 Oct 2010
3:36 pm
How much has Congressman Etheridge changed since he went to Washington? A study last year found that repealing the “Death Tax” (also called estate or inheritance taxes) would create 42,000 North Carolina jobs. Without a death tax, small family businesses and farms wouldn’t have to be broken up and sold to pay taxes.
When he went to Washington, Congressman Etheridge was against the death tax. He said, “One of the largest obstacles to staying in business for families is Federal Estate taxes or death taxes. Before a family has …

Etheridge Casts Deciding Vote for Higher Taxes
30 Sep 2010
12:37 pm
Yesterday, Bob Etheridge had a chance to vote against a tax increase. He didn’t. Then, he put an ad on TV accusing me of wanting to raise taxes.
Here’s what happened. On January 1st, every American income tax payer faces a tax increase. Millions of small businesses also face a tax increase and anyone who dies will have to pay a death tax of up to 55%.
All these tax increases are baked in the cake. They are on the books. Here’s the bottom line — according to independent number crunchers at …

$2500 BBQ
28 Sep 2010
9:33 am
Bob Etheridge is holding a BBQ dinner on September 29th, but not in Dunn or Smithfield or Rocky Mount. He’s holding it a block from Capitol Hill. And he’s charging $2,500 for a plate of barbeque.
Now let’s guess no one – not even in Washington – is silly enough to pay $2,500 for a single plate of barbeque. So why are they doing it?
Well, the unions are doing it because Bob Etheridge supports their card check legislation.
The Wall Street lobbyists are doing it because he voted for their Wall …

Tax Increases We Cannot Afford
3 Sep 2010
1:40 pm
The Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 will expire on January 1, 2011. When they sunset, taxes will increase by 10 percent or more on American families struggling to stay afloat during tough economic times.
Taxes will go up an average of two thousand dollars per household on top of the six hundred billion in taxes associated with Obamacare. These are costs families today cannot afford.
The outlook for American businesses is just as dim. Capital gains taxes will increase from 15 percent to 20 percent, …

Welcome to the Horrors of Rationing
23 Aug 2010
12:29 pm
Few things frighten a woman more than hearing a doctor say, You have breast cancer. As a nurse, I’ve seen women fight their very personal struggle, enduring pain and fighting as life slips away – so my blood boiled when I read the Wall Street Journal story about the cruelty for women with breast cancer hidden in Obamacare. The message from Obama is simple for women with breast cancer: welcome to the horrors of rationing.
A panel of Obama’s Food and Drug Administration is reportedly withdrawing …

Dear Congressman Etheridge
11 Aug 2010
4:36 pm
Yesterday I sent the following letter to the office of my opponent, Congressman Bob Etheridge:
Dear Congressman Etheridge,
Last week, you mailed (and emailed) letters and newsletters from your Congressional office to voters across the district. In every way these mailings resembled typical campaign ads, except they were paid for by taxpayers and not by your campaign.
In the text of one pamphlet you mailed you told voters you are “reducing the deficit and restoring budget discipline” in Washington. How much did this mailing (and your emailings) cost …

The Federal Government “Can Do Most Anything”
4 Aug 2010
10:13 am
Over the past few days, a video of California Rep. Pete Stark’s exchange with a constituent in a town hall meeting has gone viral in the online community. The interest in the video is focused on a comment Stark made about the power of the federal government. Although coming from a California congressman, the comment captures the attitude of too many incumbents in Washington, including my opponent, Congressman Bob Etheridge.
The constituent asked Stark a question about Obamacare, “How can legislation such as this be …

Who Will Bail Us Out?
21 May 2010
9:47 am
Americans are already paying for the lack of fiscal restraint exercised by their own elected leaders, but the proposed bailout of Greece would have them paying for the financial foibles of another country’s government as well. Since the proposed bailout would effectively be paying off Greek loans to German, Swiss, French and other European banks, American taxpayers are right to not only be concerned and confused, but outraged at how their money is being spent. Those taxpayers in North Carolina’s second district are probably wondering why Bob Etheridge voted to …
