Dependence On Government Spikes 23% Under Obama
9 Feb 2012
11:16 am
And that’s just the way Government wants it
(IBD) The American public’s dependence on the federal government shot up 23% in just two years under President Obama, with 67 million now relying on some federal program, according to a newly released study by the Heritage Foundation.
The conservative think tank’s annual Index of Dependence on Government tracks money spent on housing, health, welfare, education subsidies and other federal programs that were “traditionally provided to needy people by local organizations and families.”
The two-year increase under Obama is …
Obama Reinforces Stance On Unconstitutional Contraceptive Mandate
9 Feb 2012
8:47 am
It boggles the mind why Obama would want to pick this fight with Catholics, which also means Conservatives, Tea Party members, Republicans, and the 60+% of Americans who oppose ObamaCare get riled up again, in an election year. Democrats, including Obama, avoided mentioning ObamaCare during the 2010 mid-term elections in the same manner people avoid discussions of their grandparents having sex. They avoided mentioning it during 2011. Obama avoided it during the 2011 and 2012 State of the Union campaign speeches. Why bring it up now?
But, Obama is not giving …
Professional Warmists Shocked No Ice Melt In Himalayas, Still Say We’re Doomed
9 Feb 2012
8:11 am
We’ve already had confirmation on massive errors in the UN IPCC’s “science”, and know that the errors were used intentionally to scaremonger. We know that the data came from an unfounded report which had no scientific data, written by a grad student who did no field research, like so much of the 2007 IPCC assessment. And now we find
(UK Guardian) The world’s greatest snow-capped peaks, which run in a chain from the Himalayas to Tian Shan on the border of China and Kyrgyzstan, have lost no ice over …
An Obama Compromise On ObamaCare Contraception Requirement?
8 Feb 2012
9:35 am
Let’s start off with this from LauraW at Ace Of Spades
Did Catholic organizations support Obamacare because they either assumed or were told that they would get an exception based on their religious beliefs?
Because if that is true, then essentially they agreed to support an infringement on others’ freedoms just so long as their own would be preserved. How did they think that would eventually work out?
Now, don’t get me wrong; of course I am delighted that Catholics are angry with the Obama administration.
However, I’m not exactly freaking out …
If Climate Change Is So Bad, Why Is The Flu So Mild?
8 Feb 2012
8:59 am
How many times have we been told that global warming climate change is going to be bad for humans? Disease and stuff will kill hundreds of millions, turning people into zombies….well, not really, they haven’t gotten to that jumping shark moment. Yet. Though, the Warmists have done “Zombie Walks for Climate change“. But, what is the reality as we go through a mild winter here in North America?
(Fox News) The flu virus is thought to thrive in cold weather, so it’s no surprise that during this unseasonably warm winter, we’ve …
And It’s Santorum For The Hat Trick
8 Feb 2012
8:29 am
Tuesday night was all Rick (for the non-hockey fans, first, shame on you, and second, a hat trick is scoring 3 goals, after which people throw their hats on the ice. Not easy to score a hat trick)
(Washington Post) Rick Santorum had a breakthrough night Tuesday, winning GOP presidential contests in Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado, all of which is expected to breathe life into his struggling campaign and slow Mitt Romney’s march to the Republican presidential nomination.
The Santorum triumphs promise to, at least temporarily, alter the face of the campaign …
HuffPo: Catholics Need To Just Forget 2,000 Years Of Church Doctrine Because People Have Sex!
7 Feb 2012
9:08 am
Liberals will rationalize anything for the sake of abortion on demand
(Marjorie Clifton at HuffPo) I am the product of 14 years of Catholic school and am a practicing Catholic, actively involved in the church all of my life. As a woman with a career in politics and women’s leadership, I have quietly worked within the church to make change and have cautiously offered my voice only when I felt it was essential. But, I can be quiet no longer.
You are welcome to speak out. …
PETA Suing Sea World, Claims Whales Are “Slaves”
7 Feb 2012
8:27 am
Back in October, I brought you a quick bite story about how PETA planned to get killer whales constitutional rights, saying that keeping them violated the 13th Amendment (slavery). The lawsuit against Sea World has now gone to a judge
(LA Times) A federal judge appeared dubious Monday about a lawsuit filed by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals that seeks the release of orcas from SeaWorld on anti-slavery grounds.
PETA attorney Jeffrey Kerr told U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Miller that invoking the anti-slavery 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in …
Obama Leads From Behind, Rationalizes Why He Needs A Super PAC
7 Feb 2012
8:10 am
Can we even term this leading from behind? He may be a “leader”, based on his position he purchased, but leading denotes guiding, directing, showing the way. Interestingly, a synonym of leading is “ruling.” Anyhow
(Politico) President Barack Obama — in an act of hypocrisy or necessity, depending on the beholder — has reversed course and is now blessing the efforts of a sputtering super PAC, Priorities USA Action, organized to fight GOP dark-money attacks.
Pure hypocrisy, and, what the hell is “dark-money attacks”? Looks like Glenn Thrush is offering up stealth …
Why Yes, The Climate Change Hoax Is About Big Government
6 Feb 2012
9:09 am
Grist let’s the cat out of the bag that the whole climate change movement is not about “the environment”, but about Big Centralized Government
Why climate change will make you love big government
This essay was originally published on TomDispatch and is republished here with Tom’s kind permission.
Look back on 2011 and you’ll notice a destructive trail of extreme weather slashing through the year. In Texas, it was the driest year ever recorded. An epic drought there killed half a billion trees, touched off wildfires that burned 4 million acres, and …
And The Race Card Rises Again
6 Feb 2012
7:57 am
So, we can see the majority of the elements Democrats will use to attempt to get the Most Incompetent President Ever re-elected. Class warfare led by a rich guy who doesn’t pay his fair share? Check. Redistributive rhetoric led by rich guys who won’t give up their own money? Check. Blaming Congress, half of which is run by Democrats? Check. Proclaiming himself similar to Jesus? Check. Race card? Check
(Politico) The issue of race and American politics, never far beneath the surface during Barack Obama’s historic 2008 campaign, is making a …
Nevada: Romney Wins Big
5 Feb 2012
8:09 am
Not quite as big as some thought, as some were predicting a 50%+ win, but, very close. With 71% reporting as of 7am, we’re looking at
Romney – 47.6%
Gingrich – 22.7%
Santorum – 11.1%

Excitable Andy Revkin And NY Times: You Tea Partiers See UN Black Helicopters In Green Projects
4 Feb 2012
8:30 am
It’s like all you Tea Partying climate realists are conspiracy nuts or something (via Tom Nelson)
Said story: Activists Fight Green Projects, Seeing U.N. Plot
Across the country, activists with ties to the Tea Party are railing against all sorts of local and state efforts to control sprawl and conserve energy. They brand government action for things like expanding public transportation routes and preserving open space as part of a United Nations-led conspiracy to deny property rights and herd citizens toward cities.
They are showing up at planning meetings to denounce bike lanes …
Surprise! Harry Reid, Democrats, Say No To Any 2012 Or 2013 Budget Bill
4 Feb 2012
7:46 am
This is getting rather repetitive
(Washington Examiner) “Let’s see it,” a frustrated Sen. Jeff Sessions said on the Senate floor Monday afternoon. “Let’s bring it forward.”
By “it,” Sessions meant a Democratic proposal for a 2012 federal budget. In recent days Sessions, the top Republican on the Senate Budget Committee, has been asking, pushing, pleading, cajoling and begging Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to put forward a Democratic plan. So far, Reid has steadfastly refused.
That’s nothing new. The last time the Senate passed a budget was …
Supreme Court Justice Ginsberg To Egypt: “Don’t Look To That Stuffy Old US Constitution As A Model”
3 Feb 2012
9:17 am
MEMRI has the video of an interview with sitting US Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg with Al-Hayat TV on January 30, 2012.
From the transcript
I can’t speak about what the Egyptian experience should be, because I’m operating under a rather old constitution. The United States, in comparison to Egypt, is a very new nation, and yet we have the oldest written constitution still in force in the world.
And the big pull, around the 2:27 mark
You should certainly be aided by all the constitution-writing that has gone one since the end …
Obama Thinks Veterans Are Only Good For Menial Jobs
3 Feb 2012
8:50 am
We’re finally going to get, after, what, a year? of talking about jobs for military veterans, his plan to get them work. And it’s as pitiful as you’d expect
(Fox News) In an effort to cut the unemployment rate among veterans, the Obama administration is calling for a new conservation program that would put veterans to work rebuilding trails, roads and levees on public lands.
Let’s give him some credit for wanting to reduce the unemployment rate among veterans, even if it is surely politically motivated, geared towards peeling off …
It’s Come To This: Komen Foundation Has To Do Damage Control
3 Feb 2012
8:27 am
What kind of world are we living in where the Susan G. Komen Foundation has to do damage control for pulling funding from an organization that is under federal investigation for potentially using taxpayer money for abortions, financial abuses, and ignoring state and local reporting requirements, often regarding minors? Witness the Politico’s headline: Susan G. Komen fights to contain Planned Parenthood damage
If this was supposed to be damage control, Susan G. Komen for the Cure proved Thursday that it has a lot to learn.
On a day when the breast cancer …
Oh Noes: Globull Warming Harms Baby Seals, Makes Them Break Into Homes
2 Feb 2012
9:59 am
Who couldn’t love an animal like this?
Isn’t he cute? Don’t you just want to hug him and kiss him and take him home where you can make Seal Flipper Pie or Seal Meat Hash? Well, sucks to be you, because baby harp seals are apparently being killed off by globull warming
Climate change spares no one. Not even the adorable. Baby harp seals, for instance, can’t catch a break. After centuries of looking over their shoulders to spot folks who plan to eat them or wear them, the cute little critters …
NY Times: Feminist Is Codeword For “Supports Infanticide”
2 Feb 2012
9:20 am
The decision by the Susan G. Komen foundation to no longer provide funds to Planned Parenthood has driven the abortion debate to front and center, and driven Liberals nuts, highlighting once again that abortion on demand is one of the bedrocks of their beliefs. And along comes Jamie Steihm at the NY Times with
What’s a Republican Feminist To Do?
Of course, we could ask “how many Republican women call themselves “feminists”?” How many have hairy legs and armpits? How many complain about “reproductive rights” and the government getting in the way …
Six Takeaways From Florida
1 Feb 2012
8:31 am
And the results from Florida are
(Fox News) Romney received 46 percent of the Florida vote. Gingrich had 32 percent, followed by Rick Santorum with 13 percent and Ron Paul with 7 percent.
Romney won all 50 of Florida’s convention delegates.
The Politico’s Maggie Haberman, who has done a pretty good job in covering the GOP primaries, even for a liberal, I have to admit, provides 5 takeaways
1. Mitt Romney is once again running two campaigns – Romney’s election night speech, in which he mentioned Newt Gingrich only to congratulate him, …
