JUST IN: Congress Just Voted UNANIMOUSLY Against Obama! [VIDEO]

Well, this is certainly good news[1]. A bill that will allow Americans to sue Saudi Arabia over almost 3,000 Americans being murdered on 09/11/2001 has just been approved by a voice vote in the House of Representatives. The Senate already unanimously adopted it in May. Obama is threatening to veto the bill, but it has such massive support that the Republican-dominated legislature will override his pen this time.

House Resolution 3815, the “Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act” or JASTA, looks to remedy an exception to sovereign immunity created by a law passed in 1976. It will allow US citizens to sue foreign countries for terrorism that kills Americans on US soil. Previously, the law was invoked to protect Saudi Arabia from lawsuits over 9/11. That protection is now stripped… after 15 years, let the lawsuits begin.

From Allen West:

Just days ahead of the 15th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, many of those affected are one step closer to getting justice. Russia Today[3] just reported that; House Resolution 3815, also known as the “Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act” or JASTA, creates an exception to sovereign immunity created by a 1976 law, thus allowing US citizens to sue foreign countries for terrorism that kills Americans on US soil. The law has been invoked to shield Saudi Arabia from lawsuits over the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Fifteen out of 19 men who hijacked commercial airliners and used them as missiles to target the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were subjects of the Saudi kingdom.

The Senate version of JASTA, proposed by John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Charles Schumer (D-New York), was approved in May by 100 votes to zero. The House approved it on Friday by unanimous consent, giving the Republican-dominated legislature the ability to override a veto from President Barack Obama. Both the vote in the Senate and then in the House were voice votes.

The New York Times has reported that the Saudi government has threatened to liquidate hundreds of billions of dollars of American assets in retaliation if the bill passed. I guess we’ll see. Some believe they won’t do it. I wouldn’t be so sure of that. The Saudis have shifted alliances to the Russians and the Chinese. It does mean however, that they fear that bill and I’m sure with good reason. 15 of the 19 hijackers on that fateful day were from Saudi Arabia.

President Obama is expected to veto the bill, in which case it will take a 2/3rd majority in the House and Senate to override. Proponents of the bill believe that they’ll have the 2/3rds majority needed to do that, according to the Washington Post. It’s looking like Obama’s phone and pen this time are impotent.
