Obama to Fundraise in Texas, But Can’t Find Time To Visit Town Rocked By Fertilizer Plant Explosion
The explosion in West, Texas five days ago was devastating. Fourteen people died, including eleven first responders and over 200 were injured. Homes burned to the ground, survivors are remembering the dead and they’re still pulling corpses from the rubble.
If you heard that Barack Obama was going to Texas, you might think he was going to visit those poor people.
Well, Barack Obama does have a trip to Texas scheduled for Wednesday, but it’s for a Democratic National Committee fundraiser that’s eighty miles east of the people who’re hurting.
Thursday night, when there’s a memorial for the deceased scheduled at Baylor University, Barack Obama will be back in DC for a Planned Parenthood Gala.
Texas Republicans John Cornyn and Ted Cruz have already been to West, Texas. When asked if Barack Obama would be visiting the decimated town, Cornyn said, “Doubtful.”
So will Barack Obama actually show up in West, Texas?
Unless this story breaks nationally and embarrasses him, it seems doubtful. If those people in West, Texas wanted Obama to care about what happens to them, they should have voted for him or chipped in money to his campaign, like Planned Parenthood. Just being Americans in trouble isn’t quite good enough to merit his attention.
