The left will never attribute any failures to President Bush. His pledge of employment not going over 8% if we don't put through his near trillion dollar stimulus is a prime example. They will use the old 1984 meme of blaming Goldstein, er Bush for all that is wrong with this country. I bet that within two months, President Obama will claim to have never even heard of ACORN.

All this Olympic BS is just a ploy to keep our attention away from the HC takeover going on in the Senate Finance Committee.

The Republic will not be threatened by getting or not getting the silly Olypmic show – however, a Government takeover of HC will fundamentally change the nation for the worse and adversely affect millions and millions of lives.

Today is the day to act!

The most hazardous health reform measure before Congress is not the so-called "public option," but proposals to make health insurance compulsory via an individual or employer mandate.

Compulsory health insurance could require nearly 100 million Americans to switch to a more expensive health plan and would therefore violate President Barack Obama's pledge to let people keep their current health insurance. In particular, the legislation before Congress could eliminate many or all health savings account plans. Making health insurance compulsory would also spark an unnecessary fight over abortion and would enable government to ration care to those with private health insurance.

Obama adviser Larry Summers writes that mandates "are like public programs financed by benefit taxes," meaning that compulsory health insurance would also violate President Obama's promise not to increase taxes on the middle class. Under the House Democrats' legislation, some middle-income earners would face marginal tax rates over 50 percent (before state taxes).

The experience in Massachusetts belies the claim that compulsory health insurance brings down health care costs. The "shared responsibility" ruse allows Massachusetts politicians to declare success for a compulsory health insurance scheme whose actual costs reveal it to be a failure. Massachusetts also demonstrates that compulsory health insurance enables, and ultimately requires, politicians and government bureaus to control nearly all aspects of health care and medical practice.

Rather than make health insurance compulsory, Congress should make it more affordable by letting individuals control their earnings and choose their own health plan from any state in the Union.

I, for one, as much as I don't like Mr. Obama, am not so sure that his appearance before the IOC caused Chicago to lose their bid. My suspicion is that they were always going to be last in the voting due to the politics of the IOC and the 'rising star' eclat which Rio de Janeiro and Lula da Silva brought to the competition.

With that said, I have to say I enjoyed immensely seeing Mr. Obama being confronted with fact that there's only so much one can do with charisma and charm.

I agree. Chicago never had a chance at it….and i could care less.

I suspect that dislike of the US (something that has existed long before President Bush was even born) and Obama's arrogance didn't help matters, but the IOC is infamously corrupt, and that's probably what tipped the balance for Rio.

What tipped the balance was….

Rio! What a great place for the Olympics.

And overall, the catastrophic, humiliating failure of President Obama and Oprah to bring about a win for Chicago is front and center as a complete repudiation of the man's alleged charm, persuasiveness, and the way he would heal the supposed damage that President Bush caused in international relations. The man's vast ego and presumption was shown to be an utter lie. He was brutally humiliated in front of the world and went home stunned and confused, according to the New York Times.

And that's the story: President Obama's hubris causes his fall, yet again.

Honestly, if Obama hadn't gone and Chicago had lost, I think nobody would have really noticed. The only reason anybody cares is because the President took time out of his busy schedule to go make speeches and schmooze..

And got nothing for it.

But I don't really think that Obama lost the Olympics bid, anymore than I think Bush's rep damaged it.

No Olympic games have ever been held in South America – and Brazil / Rio came in fully prepared – with a better package than Chicago. IN the absence of something wrong with Brazil's bid, it was theirs for the asking. This had zero to do with Obama.

Van Helsing, of course, could not be expected to grasp such simple and obvious facts – or any facts.

Except for the small fact that Obama and his entourage flew over there (at taxpayer expense) to grovel and beg for the games, only to have failure stuck in his eye.

THEN all he and his minions can do is whine "It's all Bush's Fault that Chicago didn't get the games" and "Conservatives are traitors for being happy about this."
