Barack Obama certainly seems to be enjoying his time post-presidency. Before leaving the White House, Obama joked about how he was going to take Michelle on a vacation, because she deserved it — as if the two hadn’t been using taxpayer funding to go on constant vacations over the past eight years. And now, just a week after complaining about climate change, the Obamas jet-setted to Italy in a private plane to stay in their very own private villa.

Friday, Barack and Michelle Obama arrived in Tuscany on a private plane, after a trip to Italy just last week complaining about global warming. Not only did the Obamas fly to Tuscany on a private plane, they were also escorted to Grosetto Air Base by six Eurofighter Fourth Wing jets. After that, they were taken to a private villa in a 13-car motorcade. The nightly cost of the villa? $15,000 per night.

Luckily for the Obamas, they likely did not have to pay for their deluxe stay. The refurbished 14th century villa is owned by Obama’s former ambassador to Italy, John Philips. The villa, named Borgo Finocchieto, is located approximately 45 miles south of Florence and sits on six acres. The villa has five buildings, with 22 bedrooms, a library, a gym an outdoor sports areas. One of the bedrooms even has its own steam room, Jacuzzi and sauna.

The villa was originally owned by the Borghese family.

Italians were thrilled to catch a glimpse of the former president, lining the streets to see the motorcade go by. But not everyone was thrilled — some couldn’t help but note the hypocrisy.

Last week at the Seeds and Chips Global Food Innovation Summit in Milan, Obama spoke about global warming and the “problems that were caused by man.” But apparently, it’s only something for other men to worry about — his own carbon footprint is no problem, judging by the numerous vacations he’s been going on, both during his presidency and after it.
