Vacation Rules: Not The Same For Obama And You

Barack Obama seems to have the same attitude towards vacations that Al Gore has about cutting back because of global warming: That’s a good idea for you peons, but not for him. Barack Obama is the same guy who’s made a big deal about other people’s vacations, hasn’t he?

This was the guy who quite famously knocked going on vacation in Vegas,

You don’t blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you’re trying to save for college.

He also made a big deal of limiting spending on entertainment for corporate executives in companies that took government money,

President Barack Obama on Wednesday imposed a $500,000 cap on senior executive pay for the most distressed financial institutions receiving taxpayer bailout money and promised new steps to end a system of “executives being rewarded for failure.”

…Other new requirements on “exceptional assistance” will include

…A requirement that boards of directors adopt policies on spending such as corporate jets, renovations and entertainment.

….But Obama touted the broad symbolism of his action.

“This is America. We don’t disparage wealth. We don’t begrudge anybody for achieving success,” Obama said. “But what gets people upset – and rightfully so – are executives being rewarded for failure. Especially when those rewards are subsidized by U.S. taxpayers.”

An executive being rewarded for failure? One who’s being subsidized by the U.S. taxpayers. Gee, that sort of sounds like Barack Obama, doesn’t it?

Moreover, do you remember the sort of things the Left said when George Bush went on vacation? They treated Bush’s working time in Crawford, Texas as vacation time. They obsessively focused on it. Michael Moore even featured Bush playing golf in Fahrenheit 9/11.

So as far as I’m concerned, Michelle Antoinette, her kids, her friends and whoever else is partying it up on an extravagant vacation in Spain should fly back home and sit in the White House pouting — until her lecturing, blowhard husband starts to cut everyone else in America as much slack as he does for himself and his family on vacations.
