Belle of the Marine Corps Ball… Rhonda Rousey Keeps Her Promise

Rhonda Rousey kept her promise to Marine Jarrod Haschert and accompanied him to the Marine Corps Ball in South Carolina yesterday. After the beating she took from Holly Holm, she was out of the sport recovering from her injuries. But that didn’t stop her from stepping out with Haschert and being all smiles during the event. The Marine begged his ‘crush’ on Facebook to be his date and as soon as Rhonda figured out how to contact him, she accepted. “I actually can go, but I don’t know how to hit him up and say, like, ‘Yeah, I wanna go with you,’” Rousey said. “Do I call him? Do I set up a time and place like ‘Never Been Kissed’ and just show up and have him waiting there?” She finally reached him and made his dream come true by agreeing to the date. Sometimes dreams do come true.

Rhonda Rousey

From Washington Weekly News:

Ronda Rousey followed up on a September promise Friday night — arriving at the Marine Corps Ball in South Carolina with one of her biggest fans.

The MMA superstar, who admitted she was “really f–king sad” after her loss to Holly Holm, seemed to be all smiles in photos while posing with Marine Jarrod Haschert, who had asked her on a date.

Haschert posted a video to Facebook on Aug. 22, begging his “celebrity crush” to join him at the ball.

“You are my celebrity crush, like, I love everything you do and I think that you are a phenomenal person, which is why it would be my honor to take you to the Marine Corps Ball on Dec. 11,” he said. “I really hope this doesn’t get in the way of your training … but I hope you take this into consideration, because if you do, you will truly be making my dream come true.”

Evidently Rousey told TMZ that she had no intention of backing out of the date: “I promised I’d go. It’s an honor to be asked. Honestly, I probably would stay on my couch crying and eating ice cream for like another month if he didn’t ask me to go.” Everyone would have understood if she had backed out, but that’s not who Rousey is. It was just too important and she was actually looking forward to the ball. It shows what Rousey is made of and I admire her for it. I know the Marine she went with was thrilled and it looks like she truly enjoyed herself.
