SUICIDE: Linkin Park Singer Dies At 41 – Just Before New World Tour Start Date [VIDEO]

I’m so very sad to hear this. I’m a fan of Linkin Park. Chester Bennington, their lead singer, committed suicide today by hanging himself. He was 41. He was found in his home in Palos Verdes Estates in Los Angeles County. He was alone at the time of his suicide according to police. His body was discovered just before 9 am this morning.

Chester was married to his second wife and had six children. I can’t imagine what they will do without him. He had struggled with alcohol and drugs for years and I guess it was just too much for him. He had stated previously that he had considered committing suicide because he was sexually abused as a child by an older man. He was very close with Chris Cornell of Soundgarden who also committed suicide in May by hanging himself. What a terrible waste and a loss. Just horrible.

From Breitbart:

Chester Bennington, lead singer of the popular nu-metal band Linkin Park, died Thursday at his home at Palos Verdes Estates in Los Angeles County after reportedly committing suicide. He was 41.

TMZ reports that the Linkin Park frontman, best known for songs such as “Numb” and “Faint,” was found dead in his home at around 9 a.m. Thursday. Bennington’s death was reported to be a suicide by hanging. The metal singer had spoken previously about his past and history of abuse by an older male, which he previously said had led him to thoughts of suicide.

Linkin Park was scheduled to embark on its “One More Light World Tour” this month, with a kickoff date of July 27 in Mansfield, Massachusetts, and with at least 32 dates scheduled through November.

The band has not yet commented on the singer’s death.

Chester killed himself on Cornell’s 53rd birthday. I’m sure that was planned. Cornell’s wife, Vicky, tweeted out a message following the news of Chester’s death, saying, “Just when I thought my heart couldn’t break any more … I love you T.” This has to really hurt her and it must devastate Chester’s family.

Linkin Park is known for hits including “Faint,” “In the End” and “Crawling.” I have listened to them for years. They were supposed to take off on their “One More Light World Tour” this month, with a kickoff date of July 27th in Mansfield, Massachusetts. 32 performances were scheduled through November. I guess that will be canceled now. Linkin Park’s album, Meteora, is considered by some music observers to be one of the best alternative metal albums of the 2000s. They crossed music genres and had a huge following. RIP Chester Bennington… you will be missed.
