ACLU Still Fighting Christmas

The ACLU continues its tradition of being Scrooge to Christian free speech during the Christmas season:

The ACLU sent a letter dated Nov. 11 asking the city to “end the unlawful endorsement of religion,” claiming that the city paid for animals used in a Nativity scene. The letter accused the city of violating the First Amendment.
In the letter, the ACLU claimed the city paid $200 for animals used in a Nativity scene co-sponsored by Grace Church of the Nazarene.
Piper confirmed the city spent the money two years ago — not last year as the letter claims — the exhibit’s first year at “Christmas on the Cumberland.” The scene will be on display from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 11 and 12 this year at McGregor Park pavilion.
“If the City of Clarksville did pay for the animals, this was a violation of the Establishment Clause,” the ACLU letter reads. “The City of Clarksville must not provide funds for Grace Church of Nazarene to perform biblical plays or displays.”
The church’s pastor, Steve Estep, and the mayor said the church will receive no money from the city this year for the Nativity scene. And each year, Estep said, the church has been required to obtain a permit from the Parks and Recreation Department for several hundred dollars.

At least this time the Christians aren’t lying down without a fight!

Telling you your opinion is not needed, and telling you to shut up is not caring. It’s simple like telling a barking dog to stop. Your messages have has much validity, veracity, and intelligence as a dog’s bark, and worth as much. By telling you to shut up we are meerly telling you you’re worthless.

Government funding (our money) for the ACLU, ACORN, PBS and other leftist organizations needs to be stopped, totally. If they want to represent leftist, atheist views let the left and atheist fund them. I really don’t care what they say or what they do or what they believe, but not on my dime.

A dog’s bark can convey a surprising bit of data. I’ve yet to see anything Jack Schite says convey ANY data.

Back on topic. The ACLU is pretty much devoted to going for soft targets. They don’t really have the balls to tackle really tough fights, particularly against the federal government. So they tend to tangle with local authorities they figure they can push around.

Yes, and somehow American civil liberties seem to be doing just fine (wiht the exception to foist unconstitutional “personal mandates” on Americans to buy health insurance they neither need nor want, but that is a different topic).

Doesn’t that say something about all the silly liberal fretting over Chrsitmas trees and the like every December?
