The Second Amendment is NOT About Personal Protection

September 25, 1789, was the date the Bill of Rights were initially proposed to congress by James Madison. These were ten amendments that would go on to ratify the Constitution. The Bill of Rights are widely misconstrued in purpose. This is by design by our current politicians. Most think that the Bill of Rights are rights given by the government to the people. This furthers the argument that they can be changed whenever congress wants.

Not at all. The whole purpose of the Bill of Rights is to set limits on government actions in regard to personal liberties. As in, the government shouldn’t be able to touch these at all. The government gives you permission to drive your car on public roadways. They could take that away, but not free speech nor…

Enter the second amendment. Going along with the theory that the founding fathers were not stupid… They included the second amendment to protect all other amendments.

I am sick and tired of hearing the same argument over and over again that the second amendment is about personal protection. While that sounds nice, it absolutely gives the other side of the issue an argument that types of guns should be outlawed. You don’t need a thirty round magazine to protect yourself. Stop saying you do.

The only reason you would ever need a thirty round magazine is the only reason the founding fathers included the 2nd amendment in the Bill of Rights. Which was to protect the people from the government. The second amendment is the only thing protecting the most important amendment, the freedom of speech.

“To disarm the people is the most effectual way to enslave them.” George Mason

They feel like they can take our guns away because we already encouraged them to take all of our other rights away with things like the USAPATRIOT act. You can’t be for something as liberty infringing as that, yet be for gun ownership.

The same quote I used as an example when the USAPATRIOT act first came about, I will use again.

“Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.” – Benjamin Franklin.

Take a stand. Call/Write your congress. If we lose this, we lose all of our freedoms.
