Der Spiegel Wonders Where All The Warming Went
Written By : William Teach

Just the other day, Senator James Inhofe said

“Until this year, any scientist, reporter or politician who dared raise even the slightest suspicion about the science behind global warming was dismissed and repeatedly mocked.’’

And the hit parade just keeps on coming!

Global warming appears to have stalled. Climatologists are puzzled as to why average global temperatures have stopped rising over the last 10 years. Some attribute the trend to a lack of sunspots, while others explain it through ocean currents.

At least the weather in Copenhagen is likely to be cooperating. The Danish Meteorological Institute predicts that temperatures in December, when the city will host the United Nations Climate Change Conference, will be one degree above the long-term average.

Otherwise, however, not much is happening with global warming at the moment. The Earth’s average temperatures have stopped climbing since the beginning of the millennium, and it even looks as though global warming could come to a standstill this year.

Hmm, I thought the debate was over? As the days go on, we are seeing more and more of these types of stories, ones where the “science” of global warming, and, what they mean by global warming is human induced global warming, is being challenged, and discussions of the lack of warming over the past 10+ years are occuring.

For other fun AGW goodness, it appears that the Hadley CRU has been hacked, and hundreds of files have been released. AGW is apparently pushing more poor women into prostitution. And you just have to see the cover of Gore’s new book, which features hurricanes rotating the wrong way, most of the Caribbean and Florida gone, and other photoshop goodness. To achieve all the Caribbean islands covered by water would be a neat trick. Barabados has a high point of 340 meters. Yup, that would be 1,100 feet. St. Thomas is pretty hilly, as is Cuba and Puerto Rico. And most of the Caribbean nations. Montserrat is a freaking volcano, for goodness sakes!

BTW, Gore’s book is #114 on Amazon. Palin’s is #1.

For other fun AGW goodness, it appears that the Hadley CRU has been hacked, and hundreds of files have been released.

It was actually over a thousand files totaling almost 62 gigabytes. I have a feeling that this story might grow enough legs to be the blockbuster story in your climate change postings for the year.

It appears to me, after reading some of the purloined files, that the data “hacked” from Hadley CRU was very specific in it’s nature – it all highlights either the data distortions possibly committed by these scientists or it points out the possible degree to which the scientists at Hadley CRU coordinated deceptive practices and deceptive releases of information to the public with other scientists around the world. In other words, the files may have been chosen by the person or persons who took them specifically because they provide the smoking gun which establishes that the past 10 years of haranguing and brow-beating the public has been a coordinated conspiracy on the part of these scientists to deceptively sway public opinion and to fraudulently create cover for the politicians to create public policy which intrusively taxes citizens and businesses for something which doesn’t exist. I’ve also read several sources which contend that the Hadley theft was not a hacking at all, but rather that hacking is the convenient cover for an inside job.

The investigation is just beginning, so I’ll reserve final judgment on the matter. But, stay tuned – this has the potential to be as great a scandal in the scientific community as Hwang Woo-Suk, the Korean cloning doctor who claimed to have created human embryonic stem cells through cloning, Jan Hendrik Schon’s use of the same graph in multiple papers about different topics while at Bell Labs. and the Pons/Fleischmann cold fusion experiment which still can’t be replicated twenty years on.

You’re exactly right, Martin. As they sift through all the material, we might very well get a picture of how the data, such as it is, is being collected and spun, as well as what data is being discarded because it doesn’t fit the narrative that Mankind is at fault.

  • http://conservativebootcamp.com martinhale

William, this allegedly stolen information has the potential to destroy more than a few scientific careers, shutter the doors of dozens of purpose-built government agencies and quangos around the world, and may indeed serve as the death knell for the whole alarmist cause, including completely exposing Algore for the con-man that he is. This is big – much bigger than any climate-related news which has come out in years.

If it turns out to be genuine material, the accusations and recriminations at the scientific, social and political levels are going to be a hoot to watch.

I for one can’t wait to see the likes of Al Gore run out on a rail for defrauding millions of people. And to never global waming/climate change uttered as reason to steal my money… Sweet music.

  • BME

Actually, the leaked/hacked info may do more than ruin careers. There’s discussion in there of people destroying files that are covered by a current FOIA request – that’s a criminal offense, with jail time attached. Not that I expect anyone to actually go to jail, but it is a possibility.

It definitely could end up being huge, just wanted to say I didn’t headline with it because I am waiting to see what else comes out.

I really do not like hackers and other malcontents (virus writers) who abuse computer skills to damage or destroy another person’s property. I believe that they should be found and held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Now having said that, it appears that for once someone (or many someones) used an often abused skill to expose the fraud of what will probably end up being the scam of the 21st century.

I can only hope that during the investigation of the hack that ALL the data is gathered via subpoena and made public record.

Damn and I was thinking of making a nice little start up company with 10,000 semi trucks (on paper) and selling my unused carbon credits to companies for BIG $$$$. Guess I will have to continue going to my normal job. /sarc

  • Mike_M

Obama and pals have already deep-sixed the “critical” and “desperately-needed” Copenhagen Treaty because it was proved to be a load of fascist BS.

Looks like the religion of AGW is having a Gutenberg Press moment. The rubes are reading the data and disagreeing with the interpretation from on high. We all know what happened to the Church after that little incident…

Time to sell before the market crashes. Pope Algore I will probably stick it out but look for the bishops and priests to start cashing out of the carbon trading business while they can still recover the money.

Hey Martin, did you take your blog down?

  • Homerlicous

I predicted a decade ago that AGW was a scam that would eventually be the biggest scandal ever for the scientific community because unlike other science scandals this one was used to scam billions from taxpayers and to remake society into an eco-friendly (totalitarian) state. The sad part for me is that I’ve held scientists as a whole in high esteem ever since I was a kid and to see so many of them corrupting science for the ‘social good’ is repugnant.

Sim – No, I didn’t take it down, but I haven’t contributed any new articles in a long time. Now that winter is approaching, I’ll get back on that.

From: Phil Jones To: ray bradley ,mann@[snipped], mhughes@ [snipped] Subject: Diagram for WMO Statement Date: Tue, 16 Nov 1999 13:31:15 +0000 Cc: k.briffa@[snipped],t.osborn@[snipped] Dear Ray, Mike and Malcolm,
Once Tim’s got a diagram here we’ll send that either later today or first thing tomorrow. I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd [sic] from1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline. Mike’s series got the annual land and marine values while the other two got April-Sept for NH land N of 20N. The latter two are real for 1999, while the estimate for 1999 for NH combined is +0.44C wrt 61-90. The Global estimate for 1999 with data through Oct is +0.35C cf. 0.57 for 1998.

    Thanks for the comments, Ray.

    Cheers, Phil

I doubt we will ever see this reported on by the alphabet networks or the NYTimes. They will just ignore it and continue with their man is destroying the world by breathing theme.

    Martin,

I’ll definitely be looking for your take on the missing docs…you and Mr. Teach always seem to have the best, most updated takes on breaking science and stories regarding AGW. Definitely my gotos!

  • http://networdblog.blogspot.com/ Christopher_Taylor

Yeah I linked both this and the hacked email stories. My take?

This article presumes global warming “went on hiatus” and is “on a plateau” as in it stopped and just stayed the same temperature. That’s either stupidity, ignorance, or a deliberate lie: the temperature has gone down. That’s not a plateau. Plateaus are flat.

Second, the article goes out of its way to try to discount the repeated and historically recorded relationship between sunspots and climate activity: more spots = more heat. Fewer spots = less heat. That’s how its happened several times in the past, and its very predictable.

Third, the article suggests that having too few temperature record stations is giving flawed information. Hey guys, if that’s true now it was true in the past as well. Given that, as the hacked emails admit, the sea and atmospheric temperature did not raise with the surface temperature, those flawed temperature measuring stations really probably are the culprit… but not in the direction you’re hoping.

Oh one more thought: Funny how we were told for over a decade that the warming was going to continue unabated, continuous, unstoppable warming without any way to slow it unless we destroy civilization and exhaling.

Now the scientists are backpedaling, pretending “oh, no we never meant it would always get warmer, ignore those previous quotes behind the curtain.”
