Just Because A Good Chunk Of The IPCC Is Fake, That’s No Reason To Not Believe In AGW, Right?
Written By : William Teach

I always enjoy watching climate alarmists jump on that ride at the amusement part, the one that spins you around and around and around, especially if it is the type where the bottom drops out. Now, in an article entitled Missteps By Climate Scientists Threatens Climate Change Agenda (which rather proves that it is all about something other than science), the AP shows just how obdurate and pig headed the True Believers are, instead of being broad minded and inquisitive, the optimal position for scientists.

After laying out all the issues involved with the UN IPCC report through the first six paragraphs, we are treated to

Climate researchers say the errors do not disprove the U.N. panel’s central conclusion: Climate change is happening, and humans are causing it. Some researchers said the U.N. panel’s attitude-appearing to promise that its results were infallible, and reacting slowly to evidence that they were not-could undermine the rest of its work.

Even Phil Jones has acknowledged that much of the data is bunk, that it was just as warm, if not warmer, during the Medieval Warm Period, and that there has been no statistical warming over the past 15 years. Something all the climate alarmist computer models said was impossible.

“What’s happened here is that there’s an industry of climate-change denialists who are trying to make it seem as though you can’t trust anything that is between the covers” of the panel’s report, said Jeffrey Kargel, a professor at the University of Arizona who studies glaciers. “It’s really heartbreaking to see this happen, and to see that the IPCC left themselves open” to being attacked.

Got that? It is the fault of people whose minds are open and are interested in the actual real data and real science who are at fault, but not the fault of those who are falsifying, spinning, alarming, and just making it up as they go, scientists who have enormous amounts of prestige, power, and money at stake for pushing man made global warming theories and scare-mongering.

“The underlying science is certainly there, but the citation process the IPCC went through is sloppy. There’s no other word for it,” said Doug Boucher, director of the Tropical Forest and Climate Initiative at the Union of Concerned Scientists.

Ah, the old “fake but accurate” argument. Makes one wonder when actual science will begin on the alarmist side.

    William,

Here is some more good info:

    From Jonah Goldberg at NRO:

From the Times of London: “World May Not Be Warming, Say Scientists”

“The United Nations climate panel faces a new challenge with scientists casting doubt on its claim that global temperatures are rising inexorably because of human pollution.

In its last assessment the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) said the evidence that the world was warming was “unequivocal”.

It warned that greenhouse gases had already heated the world by 0.7C and that there could be 5C-6C more warming by 2100, with devastating impacts on humanity and wildlife. However, new research, including work by British scientists, is casting doubt on such claims. Some even suggest the world may not be warming much at all.

“The temperature records cannot be relied on as indicators of global change,” said John Christy, professor of atmospheric science at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, a former lead author on the IPCC.

The doubts of Christy and a number of other researchers focus on the thousands of weather stations around the world, which have been used to collect temperature data over the past 150 years.

These stations, they believe, have been seriously compromised by factors such as urbanisation, changes in land use and, in many cases, being moved from site to site.

Christy has published research papers looking at these effects in three different regions: east Africa, and the American states of California and Alabama.

“The story is the same for each one,” he said. “The popular data sets show a lot of warming but the apparent temperature rise was actually caused by local factors affecting the weather stations, such as land development.”

    From Mark Steyn at NRO:

Say it loud, he’s unsettled and proud. Hide-the-decliner Phil Jones is embracing his inner decline:

Climategate U-turn as Scientist at Centre of Row Admits: There Has Been No Global Warming Since 1995

That would be 1995 as in a decade and a half ago? Gee, you wouldn’t get that impression from reading the papers.

Here’s another first. Dr Jones is the first IPCC honcho to concede the possibility that the present allegedly roasting planet may not be unprecedented:

He said that the debate over whether the world could have been even warmer than now during the medieval period, when there is evidence of high temperatures in northern countries, was far from settled.

    “Far from settled”?

Dig deep into the science of the Greenhouse Effect (the entire lynchpin of AGW theory based on carbon emissions), and you’ll find it’s based on some extremely flimsy “science”.

The major players are GW Callendar, Gilbert Plass, and Hans Suess. Callendar’s work is almost entirely speculative, and Plass and Suess have very little actual lab work to back up their theories. Holes were being punched in them almost immediately after publication. They were making projections based in most cases on sheer guesswork since the data they needed hadn’t even begun to be available in the 1950s. Today the main source of “evidence” for these theories are computer models, which can be programmed to say anything and are at best probably modeling 5-10% of all the factors that go into climate change.

The Greenhouse Effect and AGW truly are a house of cards, with self-fulfilling prophecies building on each other to produce a narrative that still has precious little physical evidence.

    Mike,
very good points on the GE, huck or some other libtard once tried to argue that the GE was real and the because of feedback we’d eventually roast. Of course for feedback to even possible on Earth little or none of the heat trapped on the planet would EVER be able to escape into space. Which is utterly impossible without sealing the planet in an insulated Dysan Sphere like object. Thermographic images of all of the planets show they release that gets trapped from their surfaces or atmospheres it’s simple thermodynamics.

Venus has the same situation but the 2 main reason it’s hotter are it’s closer proximity to the sun and the greater cloud cover of a more reactive atmosphere.

The victory will be sweeter for those who refused to accept the AGW-lie.

I’m personally happy that these nutjobs refuse to accept the truth. Let them make fools out of themselves. Even Obama is moving away from his previous pro-AGW stance because even Obama isn’t that stupid.

This shouldn’t surprise you William. The preponderance of people who’re still starry-eyed supporters of the MMCC hypothesis are true believers who believe not as a matter of facts and figures, but rather as an article of faith. By definition, as members of a faith-based group, they can’t possibly acknowledge blame without absolutely destroying the infallibility of the faith to which they cling.

Sucks when your faith is based on the ideas of very fallible men and women who’ve chosen activism over science.

It’s funny that people who tend to be religious point the finger at others and say “that’s just an act of faith and it doesn’t count!”

there’s mote proof of man made climate change than proof of God, you hypocrates.

Proof of God’s existance and presence is all around us Jack. Proof of man made climate changeglobal warming exists only in computer models and your fevered little mind.

Apples and oranges, Jacqui, apples and oranges. Faith is a fine thing to have in one’s life and it is the lingua franca for religion and spiritual thinking. But faith doesn’t really fit into the world of scientific inquiry. It’s a lousy way to do science, which is why others are critical of the ardent warmists. I’m surprised someone who touts himself as a real cracker-jack thinker got tripped up over such a simple distinction.
