Obama In 2008 Vs. Obama In 2012: We’ve Heard It All Before

This is a powerfully effective video because it points out the obvious: Barack Obama is just rehashing many of the same sad, broken promises he made in 2008.

Know what else it reminds me of? This magnificent quote from Mike Huckabee at the Republican National Convention:

“The Democrats say we ought to give Barack Obama credit for trying. That sounds like the nonsense of giving every kid a trophy for showing up. Friends, we’re talking about leading the country, not playing on a third-grade soccer team! I realize this is the man who got a Nobel Peace Prize for what he would potentially do, but in the real world, you get the prize for producing something, not just promising it.”

By any objective measure, Barack Obama has been a failure as President. The economy has been terrible for four years. The jobless rate has been above 8% for 3 1/2 years. He didn’t create “unity.” He didn’t “change the tone” in D.C. He made it worse! Despite the fact that Obama promised to cut the debt in half, it has been exploding. He’s still talking about the need to hire more teachers, fix roads, and put more into student loans. Well, Obama has added 6 trillion dollars to the debt since he got into office. Why hasn’t he done all of those things already? There’s nothing on planet earth that you can’t buy or build for that kind of money. So, why hasn’t it been done already?

Why are we still getting excuses? It’s Bush’s fault. It’s the Republican Party’s fault for not agreeing to do everything Obama wants. It’s the ATM’s, the European economy, big business, greedy rich people….somehow, the guy who’s supposed to be in charge is the one person who’s never at fault for anything that goes badly.

The sad truth is that Barack Obama has gotten most of what he wanted as President. He got the almost trillion dollar stimulus bill, bailouts, Cash for Clunkers, lots of new regulations and Obamacare. On the other hand, Republicans had their policies blocked at every turn.

Fair enough, I suppose since, as Barack Obama said,: “I won.”

But, when you win and you get your way, you don’t get to pass the buck anymore. People expect you to perform and if you don’t, the American people should hand you a pink slip instead of a participation trophy.
