Obamacare Tantamount to Pixie Dust

In the 1980s, the media seemed amazed at how the public never seemed to turn on Ronald Reagan. They even coined a phrase for it: the Teflon Presidency. More amazing by far is the continued support Barack Obama receives from the adoring segment of the voting public that refuses to give up on his unworkable socialist schemes.

From trillion dollar bailouts to gun-running operations in Mexico, from the $20 billion shakedown of BP to the use of the IRS and NSA agencies to abuse Americans’ rights, Obama has been on a five-year mission that should have tanked his approval ratings.

Earlier this year, U.S. Rep. Jim Bridenstine, R-OK, summed up the list neatly: “The president’s Justice Department sold weapons to narco-terrorists south of our border, who killed one of our finest,” Bridenstine intoned from the well of the House of Representatives. “The president’s State Department lied about Benghazi with false information provided by the White House. The president’s attorney general authorized spying on a Fox News reporter and his family for reporting on a North Korean nuclear test. The president’s Justice Department confiscated phone records of the Associated Press because they reported on a thwarted terrorist attack. The president’s Treasury Department uses the IRS to target political opposition. The president’s Health and Human Services secretary pressures insurance companies she is supposed to regulate to promote ‘Obamacare,’ which is the same law she uses to force citizens to pay for abortion-inducing drugs against their religious liberties. The president’s dishonesty, incompetence, vengefulness and lack of moral compass lead many to suggest that he is not fit to lead. The only problem is that his vice president is equally unfit and even more embarrassing.”

With the rollout of the Obamacare website, which represents the worst public relations nightmare a government program could possibly encounter, Obama himself seems determined simply to double down on his insistence that the plan will actually work. Stuttering through his daily list of excuses, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney appears more pathetic with each redundant explanation of the problems involved with Obamacare itself. Both of these men seem to believe that somehow the pixie dust is on the way and everyone will live happily ever after.

Amazingly, a huge number of ignorant Americans still pin their hopes on that pixie dust.

At a time when Europeans are abandoning – or at least questioning – the manner in which their nations have been governed for the last few decades, Obama came along and beguiled enough American voters into believing in the fantasy of free stuff. Our grossly overpriced, failed government education system has aided him and his ilk enormously by teaching an entire generation the worst sort of voodoo economics. Their message: government can give you everything you want or need simply by taxing rich people, who have stolen what belongs to you anyway.

I have written before that Obama has spent the last four and a half years making the Congress of the United States largely irrelevant. And other than a handful of House members like Iowa’s Steve King, and a few senators like Ted Cruz and Mike Lee, it is hard to imagine anyone in the congressional leadership who is willing to take the steps necessary to reclaim the constitutional authority they have allowed Obama to steal from them.

Attorney-General, Eric Holder, who authorized Operation Fast and Furious (not to mention other nefarious programs) and then swept it under the rug; Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, who implemented the debacle that is Obamacare; United States Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, who rewrote the bill (and, many argue, the Constitution) in order to declare it constitutional; Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, who allowed our fallen heroes to come back to our soil with no monetary provision even to bury them; and President Barack Obama himself – all of them should resign from office: tomorrow.

To believe that they will do so is to put our faith in the same pixie dust in which they apparently believe.
