So What Does Spending A Half Million Dollars On MSNBC Stimulate?

Even if Keynesian stimulus worked – and the historical evidence overwhelmingly shows that it doesn’t –: this doesn’t seem very ah…stimulating.

The Labor Department paid out hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal stimulus funds to a public relations firm to run more than 100 commercials touting the Obama administration’s “green training” job efforts on two MSNBC cable shows, records show.

The commercials ran on MSNBC on shows hosted by Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann in 2009, but the contract didn’t report any jobs created, according to records reviewed recently by The Washington Times.

 

What were they trying to stimulate with that? Leg tingles? Democrats spend a lot of time talking about how important it is to “stimulate” the economy, but as a practical matter, all they mean is that they want to spend a lot more money. Well, guess what? On that front, mission accomplished.: Federal spending: was $2.73 trillion in 2007, $2.98 trillion in 2008, $3.52 trillion in 2009, $3.46 trillion in 2010 and $3.6 trillion in 2011.”: All that extra spending must be why we have such a growing, thriving economy. Oh, wait…
