A 16 Year-Old Dies Weighing What a 7 Year-Old Should Weigh, Then Cops Make a 2nd Disturbing Discovery

Parents are supposed to protect and nurture their children — but some people, quite simply, should never have been parents. And when those people adopted their children, it’s even harder to take, because there will always be the thought that the suffering could have been prevented. One particularly heinous story involves two adoptive parents, who starved and abused their daughter until she died.

16 year-old Sabrina was the adopted daughter of Marc and Misty Ray. But her adoption ultimately was not a joyous occasion; Sabrina was given to a sadistic family that treated her worse than an animal. And after her death, multiple members of her family were arrested when the extent of her abuse became clear.

Sabrina weighed just 56 pounds at the time of her death, about what a seven year-old child should weigh. Sabrina and two other girls were held, reportedly against their will, by the family, and Sabrina was not allowed to have food or water. But Sabrina wasn’t just starved to death; she was physically abused as well. Her 16 year-old adoptive brother, Justin, drop-kicked her into the basement, where she suffered severe injuries; because of that incident, she was unable to walk, talk, eat, or drink. Justin was arrested, along with several other members of his family.

Also contributing to Sabrina’s torture was 20 year-old Josie Bousman, niece of Marc and Misty Ray. Josie was charged with three counts of aiding and abetting first-degree kidnapping and one count of aiding and abetting child endangerment causing death after admitting to helping keep Sabrina captive. Carla Raye Bousman, Sabrina’s adoptive grandmother, was charged with three counts of aiding and abetting first-degree kidnapping, one count of aiding and abetting child endangerment causing death and one count of obstructing prosecution or defense, and also helped keep Sabrina inside the home.

As for Sabrina’s “parents,” they were charged with child endangerment resulting in death, three counts of neglect or abandonment of a dependent person, four counts of child endangerment causing serious injury and three counts of first-degree kidnapping. They were both jailed on $1 million cash bonds.

What kind of sentence do you think this family deserves?
