She Broadcast Her Friend’s Rape on the Internet – Her Excuse? There Are NO Words…

I am literally so disgusted that I could vomit.

I hope both of these monsters spend the rest of their lives behind bars.

During Marina Lonina’s nearly 10-minute long video, a teenage girl can be heard repeatedly screaming “no” and “stop” while a man rapes her.

But Lonina kept filming the horrific ordeal — and sharing it live with all of her followers on the livestreaming social media app, Periscope.

Lonina and her 17-year-old friend, who both go to New Albany High School in Ohio, had met 29-year-old Raymond Gates at the mall the day before.

According to USA Today, he bought them a bottle of Vodka and encouraged them to meet up with him the following day at his home.

That night, Gates held down the under-aged victim and raped her, all while Lonina filmed and broadcasted it via Periscope, where a large following of people watched.

A friend of the victim — who watched the assault from another state — is the one who alerted the police. For some unknown reason, Lonina never attempted to contact authorities while the assault was taking place.

Both Lonina and her friend are naturalized U.S. citizens from Russia, and the comments during the video are in Russian.

The 18-year-old pled not guilty this weekend to a series of crimes including rape, kidnapping, sexual battery, and pandering sexual matter involving a minor.

Her lawyer, Sam Shamansky, claims that Lonina was trying to help her friend by livestreaming the assault:

“[Lonina did] everything possible to contain the situation, even to the point of asking while it’s being filmed to these Periscope followers, ‘What should I do now? What should I do now?’”

But according to the New York Daily News, Franklin County prosecutor Ron O’Brien believes something much more sinister was at play:

“She got, I guess, taken up with all the ‘likes’ that her livestream was getting and therefore continued to do it, and did nothing to aid the victim”
