Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee: “Don’t Condemn The Gangbangers,” Guns Make Them Do It!

Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee took to the floor of the House last week to speak out in favor of gun control — and gangbangers.

“Don’t condemn the gangbangers, they’ve got guns that are trafficked – that are not enforced, that are straw purchased and they come into places even that have strong gun laws. Why? Because we don’t have sensible gun legislation. I’m going to agree with my friends on the other side of the isle. Our Republican friends, let’s enforce the gun laws that we have — – who would run away from that. That’s a sensible proposition. Put a resolution on the floor of the House — – let’s enforce gun laws that we have.”

Wait, which gun laws are we not following?

The ones about giving weapons to Mexican cartels? Granted, we should be following those, but the Obama Administration is responsible for that, not the GOP.

Moreover, “gangbangers” don’t commit crimes because of guns, nor do they legally purchase and register guns as a general rule. Criminals acquire guns by illegal means because, well, THEY’RE CRIMINALS. So, according to Sheila Jackson Lee’s “logic,” we’ll enforce Draconian gun laws everywhere and that will make it more inconvenient for crooks to get guns.

The problem with that theory is that in practice, it will make it extraordinarily difficult for law abiding citizens to get guns while criminals, who don’t care about the law, will only be slightly inconvenienced because they’re not getting their weapons legally in the first place.

So, you end up disarmed, while the gangbanger still has a gun.

Maybe Sheila Jackson Lee should create her own gun control law. She could call it “Save Our Gangbangers Protection Act.” That would fit because ultimately, that’s all she’d accomplish if she got her way.
