“Non-Existent” Voter Fraud Apparently Exists In Ohio
When conservatives prove that it’s easy to commit voter fraud that’s hard to detect after the fact, Democrats say that it doesn’t matter because we can just trust the public not to cheat (Wouldn’t it be great if the IRS had the same philosophy about your taxes?). Yet, there are people busted for voter fraud every year, just like Melowese Richardson.
The Obama/Biden lawn sign remains proudly planted in front of Melowese Richardson’s Cincinnati home, three months after the presidential election.
It seems that President Obama has an especially ardent supporter in the veteran Ohio poll worker.
Richardson told a local television station this month that she voted twice last November. She cast an absentee ballot and then voted at the polls as well.
“Yes, I voted twice,” Richardson told WCPO-TV. “I, after registering thousands of people, certainly wanted my vote to count, so I voted. I voted at the polls.”
Authorities also are investigating if she voted in the names of four other people, too, for a total of six votes in the 2012 presidential election.
“I’ll fight it for Mr. Obama and for Mr. Obama’s right to sit as president of the United States,” Richardson vowed when asked about the voter fraud investigation that is now under way.
Richardson is one of 19 people suspected of illegal voting by the Hamilton County Board of Elections in the last election.
Every time someone like Melowese Richardson casts a phony vote, it robs an honest American of his right vote. His legitimate vote is cancelled out by fraud. This is why we should, among other practices, demand that we require just as much ID to vote as it takes to buy alcohol, get on an airplane, or rent a car.
The reason Democrats oppose those things is that they believe there are enough people like Melowese Richardson out there to swing elections in their favor.
Are they right?
We make such minimal efforts to prevent fraud that we wouldn’t have the slightest idea if tens of thousands of people were voting illegally. We’re two steps from just having people stuff their votes into a communal shoe box, which would probably be fine with the Democrats until they lost an election, at which point they’d scream “fraud” at the top of their lungs.
What it all comes down to is that for people to trust our election results, we need fair, secure elections judged by impartial methods. That means legitimate names on the voter rolls, showing ID to vote, and machines, not human beings doing the counting. The fact that Democrats oppose even these rudimentary efforts to have free and fair elections tells you a lot about their level of honesty and what they think is really going on behind the scenes.
