Some 20 Percent Of Illegal Immigrants Caught At The Border Have Criminal Records

If nothing else, Donald Trump deserves credit for cutting through the politically-correct fog that had settled onto the immigration issue by noting that a large number of the illegal aliens coming across the border were criminals. While the elites gasped at so vulgar a statement, citizens of states like Texas, where illegals have committed more than 600,000 crimes since 2009, were refreshed that finally, someone in politics was willing to call a spade a spade.

And as it turns out, the statistics are on Trump’s side – an astonishing one in five illegals brings a rap sheet across the border.

Less than half of the U.S.-Mexico border is under “operational control” at this point, the chief of the Border Patrol agents testified to Congress Thursday, detailing the porous situation and violent conditions in the southwest.

Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, also said one out of every five illegal immigrants agents caught along the border in 2014 had a criminal record, which helps explain some of the violence that occurs.

To offer some perspective on that figure, studies show that three in 10 black males under 30 will spend time in jail at some point in their lifetime, with the figure for black women being far less. This means the level of crime among the illegal population is commensurate with if not greater than that of the population of America’s highest-crime community.

People who are exposed to illegal immigrants in high concentrations, like the citizens of California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, understand this problem – and that’s why Trump has done so well among those voters. Should the rest of the GOP drop its Chamber of Commerce-sponsored happy talk about immigration and get serious about solving those legitimate concerns, perhaps Trump won’t be necessary.
