Texas Walmart Shoppers Credited With Saving Life of Houston Police Officer

If it weren’t for some Walmart shoppers, a Houston police officer could have been killed by a crazy man wielding a knife this week. As we watch Baltimore burn, this is a story we should not let get lost in the shuffle.

A man entered a Walmart in Houston, Texas and immediately started stabbing a female police officer. Witnesses, though, reacted quickly and separated the two likely saving the officer’s life.

Houston police said if it wasn’t for several brave customers, a police officer wouldn’t have survived a brutal attack inside a Walmart.

According to investigators, the Houston Community College police officer was working a second job as a security guard at a Walmart off South Post Oak Road in the Meyerland area.

Around 2 a.m. Tuesday, a man wielding a large hunting knife walked up to the female guard and, without warning, attacked.

“She was sitting there watching the registers, providing security, when he just walked in and attacked her,” said Kese Smith, a public information officer with the Houston Police Department.

The man tried to grab her gun and then stabbed her several times in her torso and arm.

Officers said a group of customers wrestled the man and used the officer’s handcuffs to detain the man until Houston police arrived.

It is great to see these customers actually coming to the aid of this attacked officer.
