University of Mobile Coach: There were Bomb Sniffing Dogs BEFORE the Bomb Went Off.

What would you think if you heard that the police had spotters on the roof, bomb sniffing dogs and the bomb squad on the scene at the BEGINNING of the Boston Marathon yesterday? This is not a theoretical exercise because apparently, they did.

According to the University of Mobile‚Äôs Cross Country Coach Ali Stevenson, there were bomb sniffing dogs at the start and finish line of the race. Stevenson also said he saw spotters on the roofs and added, “They kept making announcements to the participants do not worry, it’s just a training exercise.”

Alastair Stevenson Given that CNN is reporting that there were no threats reported BEFORE the race, there are some different possibilities here.

Although Stevenson should be a credible source, he could simply be mistaken or lying. Alternately, the police may consider the Boston Marathon to be a high value target for terrorists and could habitually have bomb squads and dogs checking the scene. Of course, it’s also possible that the police were tipped off to the fact that there could be a potential threat and were there to try to find it.

Less than 24 hours after the attack, we can’t know for certain what really happened. But at first glance, it does seem to be very unusual that the police would be out in force looking for a bomb if they had no idea one could be on the scene.
