Dead Again… One Killed, Four Injured in ‘ZombiCon’ Shooting in Florida [Video]

This reads like a Castle episode. 20,000 showed up for the annual ZombiCon gathering in Ft. Myers, Florida. It’s a place where the undead, brain eating crowd can mingle without being judged. Things seem to have taken an even darker turn than usual and last night someone shot one person, killing him and then for good measure, shot five others, wounding them. These people are already looking dead with realistic blood and mangled body parts. If someone died, it might be hard to tell for sure. Just sayin’. When the shots rang out, the Zombies scattered for their undead lives. What should have been fun, turned deadly serious, quickly. Cops began clearing out bars and patrolling with rifles, looking for the shooter. So far, no luck.

From Breitbart:

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Police say a shooting at the annual ZombiCon gathering in Florida has left one person dead and four more injured, causing a chaotic scene that sent throngs of zombie-dressed revelers running through the streets.

The shooting happened around 11:45 p.m. Saturday night and authorities quickly cleared out crowded nearby bars and set up crime scene tape, while others patrolled the area with rifles searching for a suspect.

Fort Myers Police Lt. Victor Medico said four people had injuries that were not life threatening. The fifth victim died at the scene, but no other details were released.

“There were a lot of witnesses down here, there were a lot of people taking pictures, videos with their cellphone,” Medico told the News-Press (http://newspr.es/1jMJamf). “Anything that could help with this investigation would be greatly appreciated.”

Police did not immediately return email and phone call messages seeking comment.

The annual festival had been expected to draw more than 20,000 fans dressed as zombies, the newspaper said. Medico said the scene was described as “shoulder to shoulder.”

A statement on the ZombiCon Facebook page said organizers were saddened by the news and the group takes the safety of its patrons very seriously.

ZombiCon has been a popular event for nearly a decade, but some local residents and business owners have not welcomed the crowd of costumed revelers in the street dressed as limping, bloated, degrading corpses. Restaurant posted signs on its doors, warning visitors Zombicon participants were not welcome.

“Quarantined. No Zombies allowed,” the signs read.

Several members from a religious group also picketed the event this weekend.

There is no shortage of witnesses to the crime and no doubt, the shooter will be apprehended. There is a whole lack of detail concerning exactly what happened. Authorities have identified Expavious Tyrell Taylor, 20, of Okeechobee as the deceased victim of Saturday night’s shooting at Zombicon in downtown Ft. Myers. This is an event that has been going on for about nine years and it was packed. There are some establishments with signs saying: No Zombies Allowed. That’s not very inclusive. The walking dead have rights too, you know. Ft. Myers Police are looking for people with videos, photos and other media of the shooting to share it with them. Anyone with information is asked to call the Ft. Myers Police Department at (239) 321-7700, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS or text message C-R-I-M-E-S (274637) Keyword FMPD. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
