Fomenting a Race War: Texas Police Officer Assassinated While Pumping Gas

My heart breaks over this. Then the anger sets in. Authorities have a man in custody who is “believed to be the alleged gunman” in the killing of a uniformed sheriff’s deputy, Darren H. Goforth, age 47. Officer Goforth was returning to his car after pumping gas in the Houston area, when a man walked up behind him and shot him multiple times. As he lay on the ground, the scum stood over him and fired more rounds into Goforth who was already deceased. This looks like an unprovoked, execution-style killing and is another incident fomenting a race war and a war on cops. Goforth was a married father of two. My prayers are with his family. I really hope this scum enlightens us on his motives.

From TheBlaze:

Update 9:35 a.m. ET: Sgt. William Kennard of the Texas Department of Public Safety told CNN that the man “believed to be the alleged gunman,” who shot and killed an on-duty law enforcement officer in Texas, is in custody.

An on-duty uniformed deputy in Texas was shot and killed Friday night while pumping gas into his cruiser, authorities said.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said that a male suspect with a dark complexion, wearing a white shirt and red shorts, opened fire on Darren Goforth, 47, at a gas station just outside Houston.

“A male suspect came up from behind the deputy and shot the deputy multiple times. The deputy then fell to ground. The suspect then continued over to him and shot the deputy again multiple times as he laid on the ground,” deputy Thomas Gilliland told reporters.

“I can tell you that with diligence and justice, this suspect will be caught and he will be brought to justice,” Gilliland added.

The suspect was described as a man in his early-to-mid 20s with short hair. Police say he was driving a maroon or red fleet side extended cab Ford Ranger. A manhunt was underway.

A motive was not yet clear.

Sheriff Ron Hickman told reporters that Goforth was the victim of an “unprovoked, execution-style killing.”

Goforth, a 10-year veteran of the force, leaves behind a wife and two children.

“Tonight we lost one of our brothers. This is an extremely difficult time right now for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office,” the sheriff’s office said on Twitter. “We ask that you continue to give us your prayers and thoughts. Continue praying for this deputy’s family.”

Police are calling this a bizarre incident. I call it murderous hate. The gunman gave no indication of his motive and didn’t say a word. The suspect’s mother called the Harris County Sheriff’s Department about her son. All the information she had heard led to him. When she suspected it was her son that had done this, she called the police. It was the right thing to do, but probably the hardest call she’s ever made I suspect. It appears at this time that Goforth may have been targeted simply because he was a law enforcement officer. Police are reviewing surveillance footage from the gas station. “Tonight we lost one of our brothers. This is an extremely difficult time right now for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office,” the department wrote on its Facebook page. “We ask that you continue to give us your prayers and thoughts. Continue praying for this deputy’s family.” Rest in peace, officer Goforth. May justice be done in your name over this.
