Professor who left Univ. of Memphis over racist tweets is hired by neighboring college

So, a hateful professor is fired at University of Memphis for spewing racism on Twitter, but a neighboring private Presbyterian Liberal Arts college races to employ her? Scratch Rhodes College off the list of where your kids should ever go to get higher education. Zandria Robinson proclaimed she didn’t want her daughter to go to school with ‘snotty privileged whites.’ That’s about as racist as it gets. But Rhodes College hired her to teach in the Anthropology and Sociology Department that calls for expertise in particular areas, specifically gender studies and social movements. Because – get this – she has an extensive understanding of the complex problems of race in American society. You betcha she does. Now, that’s called irony.

Zandria Robinson controversially tweeted that she didn't want her daughter to go to a school with 'snotty privileged whites' while teaching sociology at the University of Memphis in Tennessee.

From the Daily Mail:

A professor who resigned after a controversial spate of racist tweets has accepted a new role – at a university which celebrates her anti-white views.

Zandria Robinson, who is black, quit her job teaching sociology at the University of Memphis on June 11 after telling Twitter followers she would not let her daughter go to a school with ‘snotty privileged whites’.

She has continued in the weeks since, tweeting that ‘whiteness is most certainly and inevitably terror’, and how ‘mental health services could prevent white people from acting how they are conditioned to act.’

Last week, Rhodes College announced Robinson had been hired, and released a statement supporting her words.

‘As a leading scholar and author in the areas of race, class, gender, culture, and the South, Dr. Zandria Robinson’s comments are sometimes provocative, controversial, and debatable,’ the school said.

The statement added that her hiring shows the school, a private liberal arts college, is ‘a place where intellectual engagement and the exchange of ideas are among our highest priorities.’

It continued by saying that she ‘was hired for a faculty position in the Rhodes Anthropology & Sociology Department that calls for expertise in particular areas, specifically gender studies and social movements.

‘Her expertise in these areas, her extensive understanding of the complex problems of race in American society, her deep roots in the Memphis area, and many years of successful teaching experience, made her an attractive candidate for the position.’

The statement comes despite a blog post Robinson wrote, explaining she was initially turned down for the role when she applied. Her Twitter account is private.

Some of her soon-to-be coworkers have hit out at the news.

Professor of Economics, John Murray, told the National Review: ‘It does seem kind of crazy that we’re inviting a person to come teach on our faculty who seems to dislike a chunk of our students.’

This is also the hack that said ‘whiteness is terror’ and seemed to widely hint at that all whites should be committed. Evidently, in some form of twisted logic, Rhodes College decided to hire Robinson to combat racism. Just let that digest for a minute in all its craziness. It does seem odd that you would hire a racist professor who purportedly hates a good many of your students and expect that it will end well. Robinson has also been involved in an earlier controversy regarding posts she made on Facebook last fall in which she threatened to come after anyone who even thought that minority students get accepted to graduate programs based on their race. She’s a hating, violent, unstable whack job and she wants to teach your kids. How sweet. Not.

Rhodes College, also in Memphis, has hired Robinson and stated that they support her anti-white views.
