She worshiped God during the biggest 3 minutes of her life on national television with this AWESOME performance. Chills. [Video]

Koryn Hawthorne has a magnificent voice… it will move you to tears as she sings in worship to God on The Voice. Such passion and an obvious deep love of God from a 17 year-old – it is truly inspiring. Rumors are swirling that she will not win, but she should. She took the most important few minutes of her career and life and gave it her all on national television and it was an incredible performance. I have no doubt she is destined for a fantastic career. I hope she keeps that giving spirit that she shares with others at nursing homes and charity events. Her voice is a gift from the heavens.

From The Daily Mail:

The Voice contestant Koryn Hawthorne is a 17-year-old high school student who performs at nursing homes and charity events.

She could be destined for bigger things after the coaches on Monday night compared her raw talent to Beyoncé Knowles.

Pharrell Williams, who stole Koryn from Christina Aguilera’s team, noted the similarities between her and Beyoncé as she rehearsed for the playoff show.

‘She doesn’t sound like Beyoncé, but there’s a drive that Bey has that you see in Koryn and that’s rare,’ he said.

The other judges agreed with him after the teenager performed the hymn How Great Thou Art.

‘I can see where he’s referencing Beyoncé when he’s referencing you,’ Christina said. ‘When she gets in her body and just feels this, you can’t teach certain things like that. You just have to own it and you have it.’

While Blake Shelton said he had been drawn in by Koryn’s performance, Adam Levine admired the grittiness to her voice.

Pharrell added: ‘You’re lighting those living rooms up across the nation and around the world. I felt like you were an antenna and the message was just coming through stronger and stronger. I’m so happy that you are on my team.’

I’m not a fan of Beyonce, so I have no idea on the comparison to her drive as a performer. But I can tell that Koryn’s voice comes from her whole being and from her heart. You can’t train that into being – it comes from your soul. Her voice is deep and warm and carries the rich timbre of a bygone age when performers enchanted their audiences from behind a microphone and sang to the angels above. While the hosts on The Voice strike me as pretty shallow overall, with glib praise for the performers, Koryn is in a class all by herself. She sings because she feels called to sing and I’m sure her message is getting through using that wonderful voice she has.
