DUmmies Didn’t Really Want A Pony

I keep seeing the talking points around here about liberals wanting a pony, unicorn, whatever and since we haven’t gotten it, that’s why we’re unhappy with the Obama administration. I’ve also seen a similar talking point saying that liberals are too impatient with Obama, that it takes time for Change to happen and we need to be patient.

That simply isn’t the case.

The vast majority of liberals didn’t want a pony, nor did we want tons of change now. Myself, and many others, are actually quite pragmatic about politics and realized that change would be incremental, and that it would take time. After all, we’ve seen this all happen before.

What we didn’t expect, nor want, was for a supposed set of political allies in the White House to start actually attacking us, nor did we want that “Change” to be for the worse. Yet that is what has happened. Obama and his White House has put millions of liberals under attack in many different ways. If you are a teacher, you’re under attack. If you are a civil libertarian, you are under attack. If you are anti-war, nobody is listening to you. If you are middle or working class, expect to be under attack in a few years, as that mandated monopoly known as HCR allows you to be bled dry by the insurance industry.

The lists of attacks on ideals and principles that we on the left hold dear is a long one.

We weren’t expecting a pony. We didn’t expect to see thirty years of damage undone overnight. However we were expecting that, at worst, the left would suffer from some sort of benign neglect, the usual case these days for liberals in the Democratic party. Instead, our issues and ourselves came under attack almost from the minute Obama took office. This is why the left in this country is unhappy, this is why we’re pissed off, because an administration that we thought was at least marginally on our side(especially since we gave of ourselves to get him there) is now turning around and attacking liberals on several fronts. This isn’t what we signed up for, this isn’t what we support. This is why liberals are now suddenly pissed at Obama.

It isn’t ponies,

It isn’t unicorns,

It is the simple fact that we are now under assault by this administration, just as we were under Bush.

Do you get it now?

Of course, this caused a contentious debate in the comments, though, it seems that the ones who are pissed off at Obama are winning. Anyhow, that’s what they get for backing and voting for a guy with no real world experience, who allied himself with the Chicago Machine and an unrepentant domestic terrorist to start his political career, not to mention sitting in the pews listening to a hate monger, etc and so on. You know the story

Actually, Liberals DO want a pony… right up until the moment they get one.

Then, once they find out that in order to ride the pony, they have to clean it and feed it and take care of it; Liberals then want a stable, and a groomer, and food for the pony, and someone to manage it all.

And then when the pony grows up into a horse, they want ANOTHER PONY!

Liberals want LOTS OF THINGS, and they don't want it to cost them ANYTHING!

Part of me wants to laugh…you idiots wanted socialism, you got it, it's failed (just like conservatives said it would), and now you're stuck with the mess. Watch Rush Limbaugh's jowels shake with glee as he's vindicated for saying he wanted Obama to fail.

But it would be more mature to use this as a Teaching Moment.

This where the rank and file Democrats have to take their party back from the ultra-leftist progressive wing, or watch the country go down in flames. They have to be smarter than the inane propaganda which vilifies the productive and celebrates poverty and failure. They have to start flying the American flag instead of burning it. They have to recognize the basic tenet of the non-existent free lunch, and that one man's entitlement comes out of another man's pocket.

Everything they need has been presented to them. Progressive policies are destroying the economy. Illegals are taking jobs and depressing wages, and being backed by Obama and the Democrat leadership. Obamacare and energy taxes are poised to obliterate the middle class. They can either sign onto the progressive suicide pact, or take their party back towards the middle and help conservatives rebuild it.

And pony/unicorn was clearly a euphemism. We know you would never subject an animal to any form of slavery inherent in the human/pet relationship.

May I be the first to suggest that for many progressives, the reason you're unhappy and pissed off is because that's who you are, not because of the actions/inactions of anyone else?

Stan, the left don't just want the pony, they want the unicorn as well, but they also want some one else to pay for them, care for them, feed them, clean up after them and so on, but they the left will take all the credit in the world for how nice the pony and unicorn look until the pony and unicorn escape and run to the farm next door and eat the crops, knock down the fence, poop in the yard, run over the farmers dog, distroy the hen house setting all the chickens loose. Then of course the left will eather claim having no knowledge of who the pony and unicorn are or will just blame the farmer next door after all nothing is ever their fault, there is nothing everrrrrrr wrong with any of their policies, a pony and unicorn for us all.

Nah. The worst of these people are just unhappy people. Not necessarily depressed, just unhappy. No wonder they're pissed off. When they scan the world around themselves, they see more problems than pluses. Since life has a bottomless pit of problems to offer us, it's a cinch that they'll never run out of festering unhappiness. It's as if their lives would have no meaning if there weren't problems about which to whinge.

Yes, but the real issue is that, every time they get any level of power, they attempt to drag everyone down to their level so that we can all be as pathetic and miserable as they are. It never enters their amoeba-sized brains that some of us ENJOY LIFE, enjoy living, and want to be happy.

I don't mind them being miserable. They can wallow in it for all I care (see D-Vega, whats_up, Pete Moss, etc for examples). But don't expect Conservatives to willingly follow you into the muck that is your life!

That would be the right and proper thing to do, however you know it will never happen.

The liberals are nothing but children that stamp their feet and throw temper tantrums until they get what they want. The rest of us let them get away with it, because we are like indulgent parents and just want them to shut the hell up so we give them what they want.

This is much like with my to four legged hairy kids that are permanent two year olds, for instance my Malteese will start barking because he wants a treat and I give in just to shut him up and he knows if he does bark long enough I'll give him a milk bone.

One other thought about the examples I gave of my two beloved pets. Mitzy the Basset knows when I give Max the Malteese a biscut she'll get one as well. Since Max tends tends to hoard his or eat it slowly, she'll steal his, this is exactingly why it reminds me of the libs. However I'm dealing with beloved pets so I can excuse them, however I can't excuse the progressive/liberals in the White House/House of Representatives/Senate. They are adult humans.

As I always say, liberals are only happy when that are angry. Take one to the beach, and they get happy, then they are angry that they are happy, which makes them happy, which makes them angry. And that's before they see the beautiful babes, hear the wonderful sounds of the ocean, and crack open a beer.
