Demagogue In Chief Slams Corp. Jets After Spending Stimulus Money on Them?
Written By : Warner Todd Huston

In his Wednesday presser on the state of the economy President Obama several times attacked those evil rich folks flying about in corporate jets saying that the filthy rich could “afford” higher taxes. But while he spent so much time slamming corporate jets today, back in 2009 the president was pushing a stimulus bill that included tax breaks to corporate jets.

In February of 2009, the stimulus package that Obama pushed heavily as the only way to “save” the country included a provision that, as the Associated Press then reported, “sharply reduces the up front tax bill for companies who buy assets like business planes.”

So, once again we have this president talking out of both sides of his mouth. Back in 2009 we needed a stimulus package that included big tax breaks to corporate jet owners, yet today those corporate jet owners are eeeevil for not paying enough taxes.

Again Obama reveals his capriciousness. No wonder the economy can’t revive with so much Obama-caused uncertainty abounding out there!

The fact is, we could engage in outright confiscation of every penny in the hands of “the rich” and that would not close the over $1 trillion debt that Obama’s spending increases have caused.

Obama is the worst demagogue we’ve had in the office of the president since Franklin Roosevelt, a man who also severely attacked the evil rich at every turn. And, as a reminder, FDR’s actions lengthened The Great Depression by years. Like FDR’s economic failures this president has nothing to offer the nation but class warfare.

Just a few of the class warfare remarks that the president uttered today show his complete lack of any actual solutions. For instance, Obama told the nation today that because some people are rich, why, that must mean that some poor kid won’t be able to get an education. This is absurd. Wealth is not a zero sum game. That one person has money does NOT mean that someone else cannot have it. Obama also lamented about how bad the economy is on one hand yet on the other hand he kept slamming “record profits” and targeted them for confiscation. If the economy is so bad, how can Obama justify taking away what profits there are out there?

For the last four years (including the time during his initial campaign for president) Obama has been pushing tax hikes. He only relented for a short time in 2010 when he finally agreed that the Bush tax cuts should stay in place because the economy could not take tax hikes then. The whole time the bulk of the American people have stood against tax hikes, yet Obama has consistently opposed the people on this issue.

The problem in Washington D.C. is not a low level of tax receipts. It’s a spending problem, not a taxing problem. Tax hikes will do nothing but cause a worse slump in our economy. Major cuts must be made. Only spending cuts can fix this mess.

Let me preface my post, by publicly admitting that finance/economics is one of my weakest subjects to debate. That said, even a layman like myself can see the unquestionable veracity in your statement. It perplexes me to no end when otherwise intelligent liberals, like some of my friends and my bro-n-law, not only fail to see that truth, but refuse to even entertain the idea.

Let me acknowledge your lack of knowledge, and tell you that it IS a revenue problem. Taxes are at historic lows, without the promised job creation as a result. Without job creation, meaning more people working and paying taxes, and with historically low taxes on the wealthy and business, it IS A REVENUE PROBLEM.

The sad thing is, people like you rally to preserve tax breaks for people who don’t need them (in all your self-proclaimed ignorance), when the economic solution is the opposite — put more money in the hands of people like us, who are likely to spend it now.

Time and time again you’re confronted with the same statistics. Even if we taxed the upper classes 100%, it would not come close to closing the deficit.

And time and time again you shove your fingers in your ears, go “la la la”, and pretend that if you believe hard enough, click your heels together three times, and trust in the power of magic, the science of economics will naturally conform to your beliefs.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work like that.

Let’s go back to economics 101. Look at the supply curve. Notice, if you impose a tax, the supply curve moves to the left and prices go… up! Gasp!

And this has nothing to do with the rich being naturally awful people!

Who woulda thunk it? Tax increases raise prices. It must be some sorta heresy.

You might want to look up government revenue as a percent of GDP. You will find that it stays at around 19% regardless of tax rates. Now take a look at government spending as a percent of GDP. It has gone up dramatically in recent years.
But here I am wasting my time using statistics and fact when arguing with a socialist.

Yeah it doesn’t take any special training or intelligence to realize that if you keep increasing spending and keep going into debt, the answer is to decrease the spending.  I mean, sure, more money coming in would be great, but cutting back is the common sense, obvious thing to do.

And when you’re a government, its the only thing to do when you’ve spent yourself fifteen trillion dollars into the hole.  Only a liar or an idiot would argue otherwise.

The RNC needs to run a series of commercials in the upcoming Presidential race. They should be all issue-oriented and show a debate between Senator Obama, Candidate Obama, and President Obama.

It will be interesting to see one man take three different sides on every issue.

They should but they probably won’t. there is a reason why the republicans are called the stupid party.

      • Cheese Whiz

They are called that because of people like Stan.

        • Anonymous

They are called that because too few republicans try to make the case against the evil party (democrats).

Well, to be fair, Warner, it’s not like he knew where the Stimulus money was going.

    • gfchicago

That’s true.  He was too busy playing golf, going on vacation with the First Wookie and having killer parties in the White House.  He just left Joe “Bite Me” Biden in charge, and that explains the whole thing.

    • http://www.wordaroundthenet.com Christopher Taylor

Nobody did for a while, they passed it without looking.  I doubt anyone’s gone through and found it all out.

  • http://www.wordaroundthenet.com Christopher Taylor

Yeah it was the stimulus package that put these tax breaks in for jet companies to get more business, and now he’s condemning the Republicans for not cutting them.  Uh, right.

Look I’m fine with eliminating tax breaks but this guy is one of the worst hypocrites on earth.
