Lefty Groups Attempting To Join Together And Create “One Nation”

Funny stuff from the Washington Post

If imitation is the highest form of flattery, the “tea party” movement must be honored.

In an effort to replicate the tea party’s success, 170 liberal and civil rights groups are forming a coalition that they hope will match the movement’s political energy and influence. They promise to “counter the tea party narrative” and help the progressive movement find its voice again after 18 months of floundering.

Yet, it’s not imitation. While the TEA Party has become a bit more organized over time, it’s still like herding cats, as the WP story points to farther in. It’s more like those “flash mobs”, except, we aren’t dancing in synchronicity (thank God). We damned sure didn’t take a bunch of Conservative groups and bring them all together. Mostly, those groups show up at the rallies, with their tables and merchandise and messages. Ours is a true grassroots movement. Theirs is pure astroturf.

If they have a website, I can’t find it, but, some of the included groups are: the National Council of La Raza, NAACP, AFL-CIO, SEIU and the United States Student Association. Also, the American Federation of Teachers. Say, they bear quite a bit of resemblance to those which support the TEA Party don’t…….what’s that? They don’t?

“Having been confronted with the specter of the tea party . . . we felt it urgent to organize the majority of this country, which voted in 2008 and has gone back to the couch,” said Benjamin Jealous, president of the NAACP. “We’ve been split off in different directions.”

On one side, we have the TEA Party, mostly those on the right and in the middle, with some liberals thrown in, who have joined together individually, with some coordination, with the predominant theme being objection to the massive spending and deficits (yes, we do blame some Republicans for this, too), the loss of freedoms, the intrusion of government. On the other side, we have massive groups, who want to push a “progressive” agenda (how that word remained in the story, and was allowed to be used the number of times it was, is amazing), who want bigger government, who want more spending (especially to themselves), and more control of The People. Apparently, the brain dead on the left have to have people who to tell them what to do. The Coffee Party was a failure, so, now they will try this.
