Obama and FDR on Proposed American Dollar Re-Design?
Written By : Warner Todd Huston

A little contest called the Dollar ReDes$ign Project has been launched on the web and I have to say the dismal design offerings being foisted on the public are a wonder to behold. But the worst ones are by Dowling Duncan.

The designs offered by Dowling Duncan envision a one dollar bill featuring a giant photo of Barak Obama and the 100 dollar bill featuring a photo of Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Imagine that, huh?

The two presidents that hated capitalism and wealth most are on these prototypes! FDR and Obama are the most anti-wealth and anti-capitalist presidents we’ve ever had!! Obama and Roosevelt both made money the root of all evil in their presidencies. Well, except the money they were able to funnel to their pals, supporters, and party members, that is.

Roosevelt constantly kept the nation agitated against “speculators,” even as he stole everyone’s gold and enriched his pals. Obama has followed suit with his outright hatred of evil “bankers” and his constant attacks on that “greedy Wall Street” while at the same time taking millions in donations from the very people he tries to gin the public up against.

Yet these fools want to put the two most anti-capitalist presidents in history on a re-design of our money?

The irony is just thick, isn’t it? Or maybe it isn’t “irony”? Maybe it’s just leftist hero worship and outright stupidity?

Obama should be on our currency, but not the one dollar. I'd put him on the newly commissioned $1,000 bill that we will need to deal with the runaway inflation we are about to experience.

And mention on it how the money is backed by the full faith and credit of the Chinese government.

I think that would be a fitting reminder of his accomplishments.

  • Mahatma

Well if it's on the web it must be true and inevitable. I nominate you, Warner Todd Huston for the 3 dollar bill.

  • http://www.patriotpost.com bthewolf

There is contest, asshatma, it's just not sponsored by the US Treasury Dept, and Warner never claimed it was. So basically, you're being an idiot, and don't know how to read.

  • StanW

Look Everyone, Martha is showing how tolerant and progressive he is by calling Mr. huston GAY!!!!

    Stay classy, Martha!

  • babydoll4you

Have you notice these communists ALWAYS want to “change” things into something that has no connection to America, or it's history. Where is the “in god we trust” or the liberty bell? Everything they put together looks just lke one of the many other failed socialist states currency. Nothing original there, just a low artistic value copy of sombody else's bad idea.

However, when you consider what the current crop of theives are doing to devalue and wipe out the dollar is it really any wonder that these idiots want it to look like something Zimbabwe would use?

  • Mahatma

    There is contest

And you, Sir Dufus, do not know how to write.

  • gfchicago

Nobody has ever claimed that Mahatma was the sharpest knife in the drawer.

  • Mahatma

Oh it was a joke, Stanley. Look everyone, Stanley has no sense of humor. And as always the last word is yours.

  • blkdragon

I don't think he even qualifies as the sharpest spoon.

  • StanW

Right, Martha. It is ALWAYS a joke when you and your ilk make gay slurs or accusations. but if someone on the Right said that? Well, that woudl be different.

  • blkdragon

Really?!? You're going to attempt to persecute a minor typo?
    Go away asshat.

  • mightysamurai

Actually I can sort of see a thread of logic here. Obama's plan to deal with the deficit and all-around crummy economy is, among other crap-tacular ideas, to print stacks and stacks of new dollar bills and throw them at the problem. It stands to reason that since he's the one heading this particular disastrous enterprise, his image should stick with it. And if nothing else it'll give future generations a constant reminder of exactly who ruined America for good.

  • http://conservativebootcamp.com Martin Hale

Thank goodness these are just entries in a contest.

But would it surprise anyone if Captain Kick*ss was partial to having his mug on the basic unit of currency? I'm guessing 'no'. He didn't flinch a bit at accepting the Nobel Peace Prize for less than nine months of “work”, so you know he's got the massive ego which would relish him being on our currency.

  • mightysamurai

On another note, is it weird that I'm more irritated by the fact that these new dollar designs are multi-colored instead of just being green?

  • Tom_pinko_Delay

What about the eagle on the 50? Or the astronaut on the 20? Or the (is that the Supreme Court?) on the 10? Or the Presidents on the 1 or the 100?

I don't particularly like those designs, but there is plenty of connection to America there. Are you really that broken up over the lack “In God we Trust?” Serious question here, what the heck does God have to with currency?

  • baoxian

Bill Clinton should be on the $1.

  • UFKA_Smithwick

Maybe you took him out of context or misinterpreted his meaning?

  • D-Vega

    It would never work.

The rightwing would never be convinced that the Obama dollar is truly American currency, no matter what proof is offered.

  • mightysamurai

Once the first wave of Obama inflation hits it might as well not be American currency. It certainly won't carry any of the worth of truly American currency.

  • D-Vega

Currency is the god of capitalism?

  • http://conservativebootcamp.com Martin Hale

Trading on the poll results in the news today which show a significant portion of Americans think Mr. Obama is secretly Muslim, shouldn't that be Qur'ancy, not currency?

  • Christopher_Taylor

Obama and FDR and no other presidents. I wouldn't mind so much either of them being on a bill, but nobody else? No Washington? No Lincoln? No Jefferson? Heck even Jackson belongs on there for his demolition of the federal bank.

  • Christopher_Taylor

I don't think “In God We Trust” belongs on the US currency, because we do not trust God. Its a lie.

  • StanW

And why would you think that, Vega? Liberals hate God, but still use the currency that says “In God We Trust”.

  • Mediumheadboy

But since no proof would be offered anyway, I guess we'd never know.

  • President Friedman

Having spent the last few evenings around the dinner table engaged in contentious battles for resource domination w/ my family, i.e., playing 'Settlers Of Catan'… I think the images on our money should be: Lumber, Bricks, Wheat, Sheep, and Ore. And the following words: “In God we Trust, but it's The Robber we fear.”

  • gfchicago

Everything that Obama has done since he has been in office regarding Muslim nations kinda reinforces that notion. Remember that it's ok to lie to the infidel and deceive him. Makes sense, since he was introduced to this type of theology at a very young age.

I personally don't know or care what his religious beliefs are, but it does concern me that he always appears to be standing against America in everything he says and does regarding social issues and foreign policy. Hell for that matter domestic economy issues as well.

  • D-Vega

I thought it meant that since we are off the gold standard, our entire currency is based on faith.

  • D-Vega

If it wasn't there for so long, conservatives would probably think the pyramid is a nod to the middle east.

  • gfchicago

Yet he chided me yesterday for calling liberals insane. Go figure. It's ok for him to name call and insult people because the libs are the only ones that have a sense of humor and first amendment rights.

  • D-Vega

Sure, it's all his fault. It's not like the rightwing hasn't been screeching about it for years.

  • D-Vega

A little inflation is what we actually need right now. Stagnation is the potential problem. At some point we have to raise interest rates, because we won't be able to lower them anymore.

  • gfchicago

Damn right it is his fault, you leftist screeched for 8 years during Bush's presidency and still are screeching that it is his fault. Good for the gander and all of that.

Obummer refuses to man up and take responsibility for anything that goes wrong. Yet he's willing to take credit for things that Bush put in place that have turned out well.

  • D-Vega

Neither Obama or Reagan deserve to be on any dollar bill. It should be people that contributed to bring up to this point overall, not who people think is “great” right now.

FDR maybe. I would think more Roosevelt or Polk. Maybe move some people around. If you want a minority, I would say Frederick Douglas.

  • D-Vega

That's got nothin to do with calling him a muslim, gf.

  • D-Vega

Considering previous currency didn't provide the same standard of proof.

  • http://www.patriotpost.com bthewolf

Says the idiot who didn't spell out three, which is proper technicque for all numbers in a text with less than four digits.

Way to go Asshatma, not only do not answer my post but resort to an attack on my ability to write. EPIC FAIL, go back to DU where scathing wit(NOT), and blind stupidity are actually welcome.

  • http://www.patriotpost.com bthewolf

STFU asshatma, you're the joke here, not your posts.

  • StanW

RIIIIIIIght, Vega. Just because you are such a partisan hack does not mena everyone is.

  • babydoll4you

The Eagle is our “mascot” and it's currently on our currency or haven't you noticed? Why would a NASA reference be uniquely American, most developed nations have a space program & atronauts. each image on the 20 is a completly generic image. Are you a big fan of the soulless, flavorless and bland?

You'll note that curently our currency has SUCESSFULL presidents who loved America, not ones who divided it and despised it's foundations.

The “In God we Trust?” is crucial to our founding and actual history rather than the tripe foisted on people today. YES I am broken up and very bothered by it. It's just one more way to seperate America from Americans and the principals on which we began.

It's about tradition, heritage, factual history, and the exceptionalism of being the world reserve currency. We dont “copy” the world, the copy us!

  • gfchicago

Did you see me call him a Muslim? I don't give a rats ass what he religion he follows. I was responding to Martin's comment about the poll numbers.

As to the rest of my reply I was a little irritated with what you wrote and I didn't fully read the whole comment. So I apologize for my conclusion.

  • http://conservativebootcamp.com Martin Hale

The problem is going to be keeping at 'a little inflation'. There's a high potential for the inflation to run away once it starts in earnest, pending developments in overseas markets.

But agreed, interest rates need to start climbing in order to provide more incentive for investment and to put an end to the easy money policies of the Bush era. Short periods of easy money are good 'pump primers', but this extended run of easy money policy has driven the bubbles of bad investments we've seen and led to too much indebtedness as compared to wealth. It's long past time to rein things in a bit and start returning to some semblance of normalcy.

  • http://www.patriotpost.com bthewolf

Don't you have to be dead to be on the Dollar Bill? I might be able to survive the Obama dollar if minting starts next year.

No libtards this is not me saying I want Obama dead. It's a joke, because idea the of Biden taken over is no easier to stomach than Odrama.

  • TheDickNixon

Yet you never have condemned the Clinton 2008 campaign Vega for starting that line of discussion. Nixon knows, they are Democrats, you are a Democrat, birds of a feather, etc.

  • StanW

Oh he condemned it, Mr. Nixon. When the Clinton campaign leaked that bit of slime, most of the major news agencies reported it. Vega picked out one single news agency (FoxNews, of course) and completely vented his spleen at them for the slur.

  • gfchicago

FDR my ass. It's his economic policies that have helped get us into some of this economic mess to begin with. SSI and all of that crap.

Warner just posted that today is the day that is Happy Cost Of Government day. We just reached the day where we are done with our government obligations for the year.

    Bunch of frickinhg thieves.

  • gfchicago

Biden might be a little easier to control. Maybe we could hide him away somewhere for the remainder of the term. Kinda like when FDR was so ill and Elinor was in charge. Err maybe not such a hot idea. We would probably have Rahm Emanuel in charge.

  • StanW

Actually, with the Left in charge of the government, putting Obama and FDR on the money is “truth in advertising”, GF. It is a subtle reminder to the American public from that Leftist government that… “No matter how hard you worked for this bill, always keep in mind that this money belongs to us!

  • Christopher_Taylor

Yeah, faith in ourselves, not God.

  • Christopher_Taylor

I would say Obama could be on currency not because of his personal achievements – if anything he's a pretty lousy president by any objective standards – but because of his historical status and importance to the nation's character.

  • UFKA_Smithwick

    Mostly on Chinese credit.

  • billdalasio

It should be people that contributed to bring up to this point overall, not who people think is “great” right now.

    Like Salmon P. Chase.
    http://www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/wp-content/upl…

  • UFKA_Smithwick

Sadly true. To realistically pay off this debt we're going to need to inflate our currency to near worthlessness.

  • President Friedman

There's a theory I've heard bandied about that there is a metric shit-ton of inflationary pressure bottled up inside the banks, as they have recieved unprecedented amounts of cash from the govt, but due to to increased credit discretion they have been legally obliged to be very stingy with it (or at least that's the best interpretation I can give of this theory with my limited economics IQ). So the increased money supply that could cause massive inflation already has a foot in the real world, it's just behind a dam of legal red tape… where I guess it could conceivably stay for a long time.

  • UFKA_Smithwick

I imagine Obama dollars will be as popular as those Sacajawea dollars they've been trying to push.

  • billdalasio

No, Vega, what we need is economic growth. The presumption that inflation means growth is a Keynesian shibboleth that hasn't been shown to be particularly factual.

  • babydoll4you

Have you noticed that just about the only people “speaking” for the current administration is limited to around 4 people. Once in a while Biden goes out and makes his usual idiotic comments, Rahm hardly says anything, you never hear from shrillery, and then there is gibbs the clown or odumbo himself. It's almost like watching a late night rerun of the very same old episode. By now everybody knows the dialoge because it never changes.

  • Mahatma

Control? Sounds very un-American to me gf. You down with a dictatorship or kingdom?

  • Mahatma

Well you started with a read/write hissy fit. I only pointed out that if you live in a glass house……. EPIC FAIL

  • Mahatma

Good one. Glad to see a sense of humor.

  • Mahatma

    Who did I insult?

I think Glen Beck has a sense of humor. (He laughs all the way to the bank, taking advantage of all those that buy his bunk).

*sigh* I acknowledge the fact that you have first amendment rights.

  • Mahatma

That would be a positive, smitty.

  • charliehall3

God has everything to do with money pinko… Notice as more and more people think like you, the less the dollar is worth. This country was founded on principles that GOD gave us… don't you remember our founders said “devine intervention” was what helped our Founders write the constitution? The more our country, its leaders and most importantly “We the People” live by the principles that GOD gave us, the more our dollar will be worth!

Hope that clears up for you what GOD has to do with currency… Pinko!

  • mightysamurai

Yes, that's what we need in the middle of an economic recession/depression. Massive levels of monetary inflation. It worked so well for Germany and Zimbabwe.

  • mightysamurai

The people controlling their own government? Yeah, that sounds downright fascist.

    Moron.

  • Tom_pinko_Delay

Notice as more and more people think like you, the less the dollar is worth.

Actually, it's your fault, as you are clearly not praying hard enough.

  • StanW

How's that name change coming along, Pinko?

  • Tom_pinko_Delay

Why would I change my name?

  • StanW

Because Delay has been proven innocent of the charges and you look like an ass by keeping it.

  • Tom_pinko_Delay

I registered with this name before Mr. DeLay was ever charged with anything. It's meant to mock him generally. So why would I change it now? Even if he has been proven innocent, he remains a shadow of himself, hence my picture of a ball peen hammer, which shows how reduced the Hammer's power and influence have become.

Really changing my name is a no win situation. Would you really think I was less of an ass? I'm quite sure not. And I would have to listen constantly to people who would think I had been banned and was returning under a new name. No thank.

  • UFKA_Smithwick

Elected politicians (yes, even the Sun-Emperor Obama I) are public **SERVANTS**. So yeah, we ought to control them.

In politics you either control someone or he controls you, no middle ground really. So who would you rather hold the whip: voters or politicians?

  • UFKA_Smithwick

    It is though.

You see Obama is brilliant and smart and nuanced and progressive and handsome and just wonderful really. Whereas most americans are stupid regressive rightwing racist nazis. So leaving power in the hands of the people would be extremely fascist.

We need a strong leader with no limits on his power to protect us from tyranny.

  • charliehall3

Real nice comeback Pinko… I have a seven year old daughter that I would expect about the same response…

  • gfchicago

Evidently you don't know how to read, you told me that I shouldn't name call on that thread, because I said that lefties are insane. I told you that you shouldn't throw stones. Yet here you are using gay slurs against the blogger that posted this.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/TheDark-Knight/100001438641512 TheDark Knight

Kind like Seinfeld.. four main 'speaking' roles with everyone else playing a cameo for comedic purposes…

Interestingly enough, with enough distance, you begin to realize that the characters from Seinfeld were really self-absorbed, unlikeable people… wow, the similarities go on

  • gfchicago

Yeah I've noticed that. And for the most part they sound like they don't know what the hell they're talking about or they're flat out lying to the American public.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/TheDark-Knight/100001438641512 TheDark Knight

Maybe we can reinstate a program where you can trade in your paper currency for what is actually used to back it – kind of like the old silver certificates?

“6 Chinese nationals – Payable to the bearer upon demand”

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/TheDark-Knight/100001438641512 TheDark Knight

If for no other reason than its prevalent use at “Gentleman's Clubs” throughout this nation… ;-)

  • babydoll4you

I know right? It's not as if it's difficult to go to any government website and read their reports. It's not difficult to do a google search and just check the numbers or youtube the videos. It's not as easy to get away with the lies anymore, the evidence is there if you take five minutes and look for it.

  • AF_Vet

An Obama buck, huh? I wonder how much that is in Schrute bucks…

  • http://www.wordaroundthenet.com Christopher Taylor

You know its funny, but in Oregon if you want to get a driver's license, you have to show your actual birth certificate, the real thing. A Certificate of Live Birth is not sufficient proof of US residency. Just an interesting note.

  • http://www.wordaroundthenet.com Christopher Taylor

Yeah well they want it to look like Euro funny money instead of greenbacks.

  • baoxian

And the robber is black, right? Just like Obama. You're such a racist.

  • Drake

Oooooh… another gamer on the site. Yay!

  • http://www.wordaroundthenet.com Christopher Taylor

If you think the people should not control their government you're in the wrong country – oh wait, you're not an American, and the principles of liberty and democracy are alien to you, so I guess it only makes sense you think its some kind of catastrophe for the government to not be all powerful and outside the control of the people.

  • http://www.wordaroundthenet.com Christopher Taylor

I liked those :( I love the dollar coin, it was really handy. Too bad it never really caught on.

  • http://www.wordaroundthenet.com Christopher Taylor

That's as I understand it as well; the problem is that can't go on indefinitely, that money supply is still out there and there's no way to get rid of it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dave-Kawasaki/1798183858 Dave Kawasaki

He should be on the food stamp.
