Obama-Created Healthcare Call Center Hires for Part Time, Pays no Healthcare Benefits
So, here is an amusing one: Obama created a call center for Americans to call in and find out about how Obamacare will “help” them out. But the call center is stocked with mostly part time jobs and isn’t paying any healthcare benefits to its employees.
As Eliana Johnson notes at NRO’s The Corner, “Obama administration announced last month that it is setting up a call center that will be accessible to Americans 24 hours a day” so that Americans could call in with questions about the President’s government takeover of our healthcare system.
But contrary to what the President has said he wants–more full time jobs and healthcare for everyone–the new jobs in his call center will have neither.
One branch of that call center will be located in California’s Contra Costa County, where, reportedly, 7,000 people applied for the 204 jobs. According to the Contra Costa Times, however, “about half the jobs are part-time, with no health benefits – a stinging disappointment to workers and local politicians who believed the positions would be full-time.” The county supervisor, Karen Mitchoff, called the hiring process “a comedy of errors” and said she “never dreamed [the jobs] would be part-time.”
This is the essential hypocrisy of being a Democrat. You act as if you are making people’s lives better. You throw wide your hands and smile a big smile, satisfied that you are more moral and better than a Republican. And then you violate your own policies because it is the right business decision to make.
For me but not for thee.
