Obama Judgeship Bribery Joins Louisiana Purchase and Cornhusker Kickback
Written By : Warner Todd Huston

Are you a member of the U.S. House of Reps or a Senator that needs some “convincing” that selling out your constituents and implementing a socialist take over of healthcare is a good idea? Well, President Wheeler-Dealer has a deal for you.

You’ve heard of the Cornhusker Kickback where a Senator from a western state can get all sorts of freebies from the government for a “yes” vote on Obamacare?

How about that ever popular Louisiana Purchase where a nice southern lady was paid off for that “yes” vote?

Well now comes Obama’s newest backroom deal in an effort to payoff a member of Congress for a “yes” vote.

Obama has now bribed a member of Congress with a judgeship to the brother to a member of the House of Reps in hopes that he will vote “yes” on Obamacare during the now upcoming reconciliation phase of the bill.

Scott Matheson, brother of Congressman Jim Matheson (D, Utah), was suddenly nominated to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit today. Obidiently, Congressman Matheson went from a “no” vote on Obamacare to “undecided.”

As Matheson’s office told the Weekly Standard:

“The Congressman is looking for development of bipartisan consensus,” Matheson’s press secretary Alyson Heyrend wrote to THE WEEKLY STANDARD on February 22. “It’s too early to know if that will occur.” Asked if one could infer that if no Republican votes in favor of the bill (i.e. if a bipartisan consensus is not reached) then Rep. Matheson would vote no, Heyrend replied: “I would not infer anything. I’d wait to see what develops, starting with the health care summit on Thursday.”

So, what do we call this payoff? I don’t know, maybe the Great Salt Lick Judgeship? What ever we call it, it stinks.

From the Weekly Standard a N-E-O Conservative publication:

Scott M. Matheson, Jr.: Nominee for the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit

Scott M. Matheson currently holds the Hugh B. Brown Presidential Endowed Chair at the S.J. Quinney College of Law, University of Utah, where he has been a member of the faculty since 1985. He served as Dean of the Law School from 1998 to 2006. He also taught First Amendment Law at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government from 1989 to 1990.

While on public service leave from the University of Utah from 1993 to 1997, Matheson served as United States Attorney for the District of Utah. In 2007, he was appointed by Governor Jon Huntsman to chair the Utah Mine Safety Commission. He also worked as a Deputy County Attorney for Salt Lake County from 1988 to 1989. Prior to joining the University faculty, Matheson was an associate attorney from 1981 to 1985 at Williams & Connolly LLP in Washington, D.C.

Matheson was born and raised in Utah and is a sixth generation Utahn. He received an A.B. from Stanford University in 1975, an M.A. from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar, and a J.D. from Yale Law School in 1980.

So, Scott Matheson appears to have the credentials to be a judge, but was his nomination used to buy off his brother’s vote?

Could care less what his credentials are. Its got obama democrat favor written all over it……they have left us multiple examples to pick from.

This sounds a lot like the recent case of Alabama GOP US Senator Shelby. He was holding up 75 Obama Administration appointees in order to blackmail the Administration into awarding a lucrative Air Force Tanker contract to a foreign company which would assemble the Tanker in Shelby’s home state of Alabama. Then lightning struck. Congressman Murtha died enabling Congressman Norm Dicks (Mr Boeing from the state of Washington) to become chairman of the powerful House committee which oversees Defense Department apporpriations. It was game over for Shelby and he knew it. He immediatley dropped his hold on the 75 Obama appointees. That was a hoot.
