Obama: King of All Statists
Written By : Warner Todd Huston

Almost 40% of William Howard Taft’s cabinet officials were from the private sector. Ike had nearly 60% of his appointees sporting private sector experience. Reagan had about 55% and George W. Bush about 53%. Even FDR and Truman had half their cabinet officials with private sector experience.

And Obama?

Less than 10%.

That means that only about 7% of Barack Hussein Obama’s cabinet appointees ever worked in the private sector. So is it any wonder that Barack Obama has become the president responsible for an unprecedented bloating of the federal government and a take over of power on a scale never before seen?

Nick Schulz published a great graph revealing the private sector experience of the appointees of every president since 1901. (Also heard Jerry Agar talking about this over the weekend on Chicago’s WGN)

Remembering that Barack Obama himself never held a real job his whole life the fact that he surrounds himself with government hacks, placemen, and hangerson yet is expected to be the one to fix the private sector economy and, well, we can see why he is failing so miserably. He has no life experiences to draw on and neither does anyone he’s asked to advise him.

No wonder America is on the fast track to socialism.

    Yikes.

I presume that 7% includes Geitner?

I think Mr. Warner should check his math.

What are you talking about? Mr. Warner does not have any math in his post – he is merely citing figures from a graph. If you are trying to imply the graph is wrong, well it came from a J. P. Morgan research report so really not Warner’s fault if it is not accurate. And if you are implying the graph is wrong, what are you basing that statement on? Normal rational people would refute something with logic, arguments, and facts. Instead, you are just kinda folding your arms, pouting, and saying, “nuh-uh.” I mean, while your refutation would probably carry muster on, say, the DU or DailyKOS, it seems to not really have much impact here.

“I think Mr. Warner should check his math.”

What, you mean you’re not proud of the fact that Obama has the Cabinet with the least private sector experience in history? I thought the Big Government elite had all the answers and was smarter than everyone else?

This is more of the change President Obama has brought. We hoped he meant what he campaigned on: rejecting lobbyists, more transparency, greater bipartisanship, etc. Instead we got all the things we didn’t like from President Bush, but more. Thus, the change.

    Mike,

I am not sure that he does yet. Exactly what cabinet members are we talking here? Does Obama appoint all of them? You readily accept the numbers because it makes Obama look bad, but have you actually questioned them, ya didnt think so.

  • http://networdblog.blogspot.com/ Christopher_Taylor

I guess that’s the best the left has to offer right now. Give him time, he’ll run to a professor or a leftist blog and squeal a while in terror then run back with a better talking point to repeat without thinking.

  • Mike_M

“Does Obama appoint all of them?”

    Double fail, whats_up.

Yes, as third graders are taught, the President appoints all of his Cabinet.

And what, are you admitting that a Cabinet made of dilletantes and bureaucrats is a bad thing? Why are you even questioning the premise of the chart? According to you liberals, the government should be firing on all cylinders with a bunch of public sector lawyers and trust fund brats in charge.

  • http://networdblog.blogspot.com/ Christopher_Taylor

Yes, as third graders are taught, the President appoints all of his Cabinet.

    Unless they’re 3rd graders… from another country.

  • RWNReader2

I think Mr. Warner should check his math… Exactly what cabinet members are we talking here?

The answer is 432 cabinet members from nine major cabinent offices, excluding 7 newer or minor ones, as spelled out right at the fucking top of the page on the first fucking link provided in Mr. Warner’s post. Anyone who made one fucking click of the mouse would have it at the fucking top of their screen, prominently displayed. But since your a fucking retarded moron, you wouldn’t know that.

Thanks for the info, that means that only 30 cabinet members have worked in the private sector? What utter bullshit, just looking at the State Dept you have 8 including Hillary that have worked in the private sector. Nice try but once again no research before reporting something as “fact”, not much better than the MSM.

Actually Mike he doesnt, he appoints usually the higher positions and then the head of the cabinets fill in the rest, you really cant be that clueless can you?

  • http://networdblog.blogspot.com/ Christopher_Taylor

Sigh… people working for the cabinet are not in the cabinet they are workers in the executive department. Only the secretaries comprise the “cabinet” of the President of the United States. I get so tired of clueless leftists.

In any case, Obama’s cabinet is made up almost exclusively of government employees and policy wonks, academics and people without practical experience or knowledge of the areas they are working in. The majority of them are former Clinton appointees (there’s the “change” in action again – big change huh, lefties? Begin spinning and defending him again now).

I get so tired of clueless leftists.

Well, hell, do you know any other kind?

  • http://networdblog.blogspot.com/ Christopher_Taylor

One does lead to the other, its true. Just some are more clueless than others.

  • Toastrider

But… all that experience in government means they’re uniquely qualified to run the U.S. in its many facets!

*struggles to keep a straight face*
    *fails*

    :D :D :D

But yeah. I feel a distinct degree of non-surprise over this. I mean, come on, show of hands; who didn’t expect Obama to surround himself with yes-men and political wonks?

  • Mike_M

“I mean, come on, show of hands; who didn’t expect Obama to surround himself with yes-men and political wonks?”

Well, Timmy was supposed to have been the man with the plan for fixing the economy…until he hopelessly compromised his integrity and independence by being exposed as a liar and a tax cheat. Now he’s a cheerleader for socialism just to keep his job.

Hey, remember the fat kid that sleeps in his car that Obama has running GM? Wonder if he made it into this survey?

  • http://networdblog.blogspot.com/ Christopher_Taylor

I hoped that President Obama would follow through on his promises and rhetoric of new government and changing the status quo but… yeah deep down I knew he’d just hire a bunch of radicals and Clinton era guys. The one real surprise was retaining Gates, but I figure he’s just a political creature who’ll do what he has to to survive with a changing government.

  • Toastrider

Chris, I’m a-gonna share a dirty secret with you: I thought the exact same thing. Obama’s initial remarks, talking about finally, finally moving past the usual racial-argument B.S. …I wanted to believe. I really did.

And then truth will out, as it always does. *sigh*

I really should not post with three hours of sleep. I’m getting maudlin now.

  • RWNReader2

leave it to a retarded liberal to think cashing checks from futures positions your husband’s friends bought for you 20 years ago counts as private sector experience. Perhaps Obama mowed his neighbor’s lawn in Kenya once when he was a kid, so he has private sector experience to, right?
