Pelosi Calls For Ethics Investigation Of Weiner….Wait, What?

Unfortunately, I missed Anthony Weiner’s press conference, with opening act Andrew Breitbart stealing the show (I once attended a concert which was Dave Edmunds, Marshall Crenshaw, and Special Guest. Said guest was Stevie Ray Vaughn, who stole the entire show), but, for a dinner hour cocktail, Nancy Pelosi asks for (headline: Weiner Wilts at Press Conference) a House Ethics panel investigation of Weiner

But after his news conference, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced that she was calling for a House ethics committee probe into whether government resources had been mishandled.

“I am calling for an Ethics Committee investigation to determine whether any official resources were used or any other violation of House rules occurred,” Pelosi said.

Pelosi added that she was “deeply disappointed and saddened” for Weiner’s wife and constituents.

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) agreed that an ethics panel must review the situation in order to “remove all remaining doubt about this situation.” “Ultimately, Anthony and his constituents will make a judgment about his future,” Israel said in a statement.

The big question remains, did Anthony Weiner violate any laws, criminal or House, or, is he just an idiot who let his power and position (and stupidity, let’s not forget that) lead him to just do inappropriate things? As I’ve said, he could have ended this on day one if he had come clean and said “I broke no laws.”

Of course, what else was Pelosi to do? She may be a far left legislator and massive hypocrite, but, face it, she’s no dummy. She’s getting ahead of the curve, knowing full well Republicans would mostly likely have called for an investigation.

Also, one still has to wonder if Weiner sent “inappropriate” pictures to underage followers. Of course, he would have to know they were for there to be felony charges. If he didn’t know they were underage, you can bet the calls for him to resign would be massive. He says that “to the best of (his) knowledge, they were all overage.” As an adult, and a federally elected legislator, I’d think one would take the time to know for damned sure.

More: I hate to give unhinged fools like Kid Icarus, ie, Charles Johnson, links (actually, I’m giving Basil the link), but he’s a perfect example of the Left, who thinks they are better than anyone else

And I’ve been getting a flood of hate mail, much of it demanding that I “apologize” for something. So here’s my official response to this demand:

Not a freaking chance. If Weiner admits to sending the pictures in question, I’ll be surprised and disappointed, but I’m never going to apologize for calling it as I see it.

And I’m certainly never going to apologize for pointing out that Andrew Breitbart is a sleazy fraudster, with a well-documented and very tawdry history of deception.

So to those demanding that I apologize: try holding your breath until you turn blue. Maybe that will do it.

And when he was proven wrong, like with every other time, he refuses to say “whoops! I was wrong.” Just attacks personally.

I guess the conspiracy was coming apart, Joseph at Cannonfire. Just not the way you thought. You planning to update with the reality of the situation, buuuuuudy?

Zander Vs. The Stupid (apparently, himself), says the person who should be fired is…..the staffer who advised Weiner on how to handle the situation.

What’s AmericaBlog worried about? “The Breitbart faux-vindication may be the worst fallout from this, when all is said and done. Mes centimes.”

Still waiting for lots of lefties to say “Hey, Breitbart, you were right.” How’s that line from Jaws go? “Well it proves one thing, Mr. Hooper. It proves that you wealthy college boys don’t have the education enough to admit when you’re wrong.”
