Reminder: Obama’s Played More Golf in 2 Yrs. Than Bush Did Both Terms
Written By : Warner Todd Huston

Between 2000 and 2008 one of the left’s most cherished ways to ridicule President Bush was to point out how often he went golfing. Bush’s golfing was a clear sign that he was ignoring the work he had to do in Washington and that he just didn’t care they claimed. He was a playboy, a goof off, a time waster. But now that Barack Obama has come to office all of a sudden the left has found that golf isn’t worth noting, even as Obama has played the game more in just under two years than Bush did during his entire eight-year term.

The word hypocrisy comes to mind.

In 2003 President Bush decided to give up golfing because he did not want families of wounded and KIA soldiers to see him playing a game while they served and died in Iraq and Afghanistan. Being seen on the golf course in wartime hasn’t seemed to deter President Obama, however.

Obama even skipped the funeral of the leader of Poland, a most staunch ally, to go play golf. Few in the Old Media seemed very worried about it.

But for Bush it was different. Even propagandist filmmaker Michael Moore used golf against President Bush. In his film Fahrenheit 9/11 the rotund spoofer used a clip of Bush golfing to attempt to make him seem out of touch. Additionally, Bush’s golf game was meticulously covered by the Old Media and used to make him seem tone-deaf.

But as far as the Old Media is concerned, Obama “needs some downtime.” His golf is nothing to be worried about.

Just a reminder of the hypocrisy of the Old Media and the American left.

Actually, if you look at the real vacation time President Obama has taken – not work vacations to Camp David – he's taken more time off than President Bush too. Bush went away from the capitol more often, but he went to places he worked at, not play like Martha's Vineyard or Europe.

    • Fiza1

“Bush went away from the capitol more often, but he went to places he worked at ..”
I agree! It is hard work clearing brush and riding bikes in the heat of a Texas summer. I was passing thru Dallas a week ago and it was 106 deg F out and it was probably even hotter in Crawford. I wonder how much each trip to Crawford and Kennebunkport cost. Unlike Obama, Bush flew up to New Hampshire in that big Presidential 747 and was ferried up to Kennebunkport in the Presidential helicopter. Nice trips! Any idea what that cost, that is, flying three helos from Quantico to New Hampshire? I hope they were at least filled with staff.

PS, Chris, where is a link to your claim that Reuters says the CRA caused the financial crisis. I gave you a link to a Reuters article that says:

“The fact is that the CRA did not encourage banks to extend the kind of toxic loans which ended up being such an important component of the financial crisis. Indeed, most of those loans weren’t made by banks at all — they were made by unregulated subprime lenders who had no CRA responsibilities whatsoever. But don’t take my word for it: ask Fed governor Randall Kroszner, who comprehensively demolished these meme in a speech last December.”

      • http://www.facebook.com/abirmandal Abir Mandal

“I wonder how much each trip to Crawford and Kennebunkport cost..”
Probably less than the Obamas' date night in NYC.

        • Fiza1

“Probably less than the Obamas' date night in NYC. “

          Are you really THAT stupid?

          • TheDickNixon

No, you are here to spam. BTW, do you pay taxes on your “support” on those little illegal alien girls you turn out?

          • Fiza1

What kind of an evil mind do you have, Nixon? I think you are a pervert!

          • TheDickNixon

you enjoy those little girls sexually fiza? Or did you just pimp them out?

          • UFKA_Smithwick

So you're saying the things Obama chooses to do for fun are far more expensive than the things Bush chose to do for fun?

Um . . . ok. I agree. You have successfully proven our points.

          • Fiza1

We are talking about the cost of a dinner at a restaurant in NYC during a weekend getaway, versus a Bush weekend getaway in Crawford. The cost of jet fuel alone to Crawford far, far exceeds the cost of any restaurant in NYC. It is a 45 minute flight to NYC versus 2 3/4 hrs to crawford. that is at least 50,000 lbs more jet fuel, one way. Figure it out, dumbo! What is the cost of 50k lbs of fuel.
I bet Bush & family went to a restaurant once in awhile during his “SEVENTY SEVEN” trips to Crawford and maybe a dozen trips to Kennebunkport.

          • UFKA_Smithwick

Yes, Obama and Bush both had vacations. Bushs were less frequent and cheaper. Hence he spent less than Obama.

How is this not getting through?

Ok if one person spends twice as much as another are they spending the same amount or is one person spending more?

          • Fiza1

“Bushs were less frequent and cheaper. Hence he spent less than Obama.”

Less frequent and cheaper? Those 77 trips to Crawford and at least another dozen to Kennebunkport are cheap? What kind of a MORON are you? “How is this not getting through?”

          • UFKA_Smithwick

I'm really not sure how this is failing to get through to you.

Is your love of the One so great that it trumps all else?

Look I really don't think he'd mind if you admitted that he vacations a lot. Just throw in something about how awesome it is that he can still be the greatest president in history despite being on vacation all the time and I'm sure he won't be too cross with you.

      • UFKA_Smithwick

Compare the debt/economy from Bush to the Sun-Emperor. Not looking so favorable.

Also Bush never made it part of his national platform to lambast the rich for having too much money and living too luxuriously.

And I don't recall Laura going off on extravagant vacations and shopping trips the way Michelle has.

        • Fiza1

Laura did take a nice, very expensive trip to Africa with her daughter. That trip was labeled as”official business”.

I have posted links to debt vs GNP plots several times in previous posts. The national debt “takes off” in 1981, flattens out and actually decreases in the latter years of the Clinton administration and then increases again during the Bush II years. The slope is almost “straight up” when Obama is sworn in. Notice how even Carter did quite well compared to Reagan and the Bush's. See for yourself here:

          http://zfacts.com/p/318.html

          • TheDickNixon

, “flattens out and actually decreases in the latter years of the Clinton administration”

            Thanks GOP Congress

And of course, the Democrats took the purse strings in 2007 fiza, so please, quit omitting facts. Jimmah Carter had a great economy? Sure thing sparky.

          • Fiza1

What happened during the first 6 yrs of the Bush administration? Didn't they get their way with two big tax cuts? The taxes on capital gains are the lowest since 1941. Did the Bush administration propose even a one dollar tax cut in any any proposed annual budget? Nope! Gotcha there!

          • TheDickNixon

Bush lowered taxes, leading directly to the record tax revenues we enjoyed.

          • Fiza1

And record deficits – a $one trillion deficit, huge job losses, and decreasing tax revenues when Obama was sworn in. Why were the tax revenues decreasing in 2008.

          • Mr. EMT

Deficits made by people with their hand out for “free” aid from the government.

          • UFKA_Smithwick

Hmm, look at that rate change the moment Obama took office. Seems to have proven my point. Are you a double agent because you seem to continually work against your own side.

          • Fiza1

Look again, UFKA! Obviously, you don't even know how to interpret a curve, or maybe you don't know what the slope is or means.

          • AF_Vet

We know what “the slope” is: It's what your ape-like forehead does.

Now shut it. No one cares what you think.

          • UFKA_Smithwick

Um, no I think you're the one that's confused. Check that chart again if you really think Obama is decreasing the debt.

      • TheDickNixon

Barney Frank blocked Fannie Mae reform, and had a sexual affair with one of it's top officials. Said top official made millions while at Fannie Mae.

        • Fiza1

How did Rep. Frank, a minority member of congress from Jan 1995 to Jan 2007, block Fannie Mae reform. Did he filibuster any attempt to “reform” Fannie Mae? Nope! If the Republicans wanted to “reform” Fannie Mae, they certainly had the power to do so until Jan 2007. Are you so stupid to think that Rep's Gingrrich, or Delay would have listened to anything that Rep Frank had to say when they were in charge? Sorry to blow away your nonsense claim, Nixon!

          • northerncanuck

So Republicans can't currently be obstructionist, correct?

          • Fiza1

Did Rep. Frank and all of the Democrats threaten to block via filibuster any kind of Fannie Mae reform? Nope! Did the Republicans even attempt any kind of reform of Fannie Mae? Nope! Maybe McCain talked about reforming Fannie Mae, but I bet he was “straightened out” by the leaders of the Republican controlled senate and house.

          • Mr. EMT

Right so who was it that did not want fanny/freddy reformed?
Who stated that this was a bad idea?
            The end, dumbass.

You idiots cry the same shit every time and politicians are scared to put you in your places when they know you support something destructive.
You cry “Racism” over the idea of taking away welfare, you cry discrimination over cutting social security and medicare, you cry and bitch and whine every inane excuse you can. But when you go to the polls you win because you are offering “free money”
You are incapable of supporting politicians who make the hard choices, who will encourage job and economic growth, at the cost of social reform because you want to live on your ass and get a paycheck for doing NOTHING.

          • TheDickNixon

Rep Frank “Fannie Mae is strong, no need for reforn”.

Deny it all day long. Gingrich? Do you need a calender?

          • Fiza1

“Rep Frank “Fannie Mae is strong, no need for reforn(m)”.”

Wow, did Frank block Fannie Mae reform with that simple statement?

Do I need a calendar? Wasn't Newty speaker of the House from 1995 to 2000? Frank was a minority member then. If Gingrich, or Delay, who was the majority leader of the house til 2006 wanted to reform Fannie Mae, do you seriously believe Rep. Frank could have singlehandedly stopped them?
Gp back to reading transcripts of the Nixon tapes. He makes Bladojevich look like a saint.

      • http://www.wordaroundthenet.com Christopher Taylor

I answered your pathetic link, and try to stay on target, for once in your life? If you even can?

        • Fiza1

Got that link to your “phantom” Reuters article yet? Again, direct from Reuter's:

“The fact is that the CRA did not encourage banks to extend the kind of toxic loans which ended up being such an important component of the financial crisis. Indeed, most of those loans weren’t made by banks at all — they were made by unregulated subprime lenders who had no CRA responsibilities whatsoever. But don’t take my word for it: ask Fed governor Randall Kroszner, who comprehensively demolished these meme in a speech last December.”

Don't complain that the article I referred you to was written by a Reuters journalist. Reuters, unlike FOX, just reports the news.

          • http://www.wordaroundthenet.com Christopher Taylor

Spamming is an internet crime. Were there any moderators who gave a damn I'd report it but really do whatever you want.

I already answered that back when you first posted it, try to keep up

      • Mr. EMT

Always nice to see fizzle giving comments about what he considers work and vacation while being jobless and getting support from his family.

      • http://www.patriotpost.com bthewolf

Thus spake brainwashed one, all hail the idiot.

  • UFKA_Smithwick

What!?!?!? A black man can't play golf? Obama won, get over it racist!

/just thought I'd sum up what the loyal opposition would say if they weren't so busy ignoring these statistics

  • Fiza1

Huston, any criticism of Obama's golfing invites a comparison to Bush II, the “Vacation President”. Didn't President Bush take 77 trips to Crawford in 8 yrs to clear brush and many other trips to Kennebunkport (to be with the family, of course). Didn't President Bush spend every “free” weekend at Camp David while not in Crawford? Didn't President Bush take approximately 468 days of vacation while in office? President Bush I was no slouch when it came to vacations to play golf in Kennebunkport and fish in Florida.

    • UFKA_Smithwick

I love how Obama and his loyal followers campaigned on “hope and change” and saving us from the horrors of the Bush years, then spent his entire first (and last) term comparing himself to Bush. “But you see, it's not so bad because Bush did the exact same thing!”.

      Hope and change.

    • TheDickNixon

'Any criticsim of Obama must be met immediatly with the word BUSH”. Fixed it for you.

Don't reply fiza, Nixon is bored and not in the mood to make you look dumber than you already are.

    • Mr. EMT

And havent we pointed out to you every time you bring this up that while on “vacation” Bush was still running the country from crawford, aka the white house in Texas?
      Yes we have!
Passing bills, or veto'ing, meeting foreign leaders, and pushing legislation all while still in crawford.
Keep on comparing obamao to Bush, nothing shows the people what a collosal failure obamao is more than you trying to make PATHETIC excuses for his abuse of power.

      • Fiza1

Why did Bush have to take 77 trips to Crawford to run the country from there? Wouldn't it be far less costly to run the country from the White House. Think of all the logistics required to move staff, the secret service, etc, to Crawford for a couple of days work, that is, between clearing brush and riding his mountain bike, down there. Why did he go to Camp David during every weekend that he wasn't on “travel” elsewhere. Tricia Nixon described Camp David as a resort without guests. Get it now?
Yes, I know, you can't think. I shouldn't have asked a moron like you to “think” about anything.

        • Mr. EMT

Why President Bush chose to go to crawford is his business.
The point you failed to make was that he vacationed a lot compared with obamao.
The reason you failed to make the point is that while Bush was On the job… he was running the country.
When he was on vaction… he was still running the country.
When obamao is on the job, he is ruining the country.
When he is on vacation, he is rubbing our nose in it.
“Now let me be clear, I will not rest while this leak is in the gulf. Now excuse me while I go play golf and then go on vacation after my vacation while my wife takes a vacation. See you at the Dinner party”

Don't worry fizzle, just wipe the drool from your face and stop slobbering all over the keyboard while you mouth breathe. You are doing pretty good for a mental midget, you figured out how to turn on your daughters computer and post your inbred logic. That is pretty good for a freeloading reprobate who's only contribution to your family is “watching” the kids while everyone else goes to work.

  • Fiza1

Obama skipped the funeral of the leader of Poland?
Thanks for your “ugly ” distortion of the facts, Huston! Several leaders of European countries skipped the funeral due to ash in the air and closed airways. Those who attended took trains. Maybe you think that Obama should have flown into an open airport and taken a train to Warszawa.
Here is what your own reference, the conservative Washington Times says about the airspace conditions:

“A massive volcanic plume covering most of Europe forced President Obama to cancel a Sunday trip to Poland to attend the funeral of the nation's president.”

Did you even read it, or did you assume we wouldn't read it and just swallow your distorted story? At least President Obama played golf at Andrews, which was certainly a low cost outing. Maybe President Obama should have flown up to Kennebunkport for a round of golf.

On a cool but sun-drenched Sunday, the president and three golfing companions went to Andrews Air Force Base to play 18 holes.

PS, Huston, there are plenty of valid criticisms on Obama, so why do you have to “distort” the facts, and then “nitpick” about a game of golf. You must be a very bitter person.

  • mightysamurai

Seriously Fiza, shut up. Your pathetic, slavish support for Obama does not impress nor convince anyone.

    • UFKA_Smithwick

Blasphemy! The Sun-King sees all and knows all! He will surely reward his most loyal followers with trinkets thrown from the royal carriage.

And perhaps even (dare I even think it?) a chance to kiss his sacred hand and grovel at his glorious feet in person?

You heretics will be forever denied such rewards.

  • Mahatma

But who whacked more uh, uh, brush?

And why bring up golf time when the OrangeMan has broken all records?

    • Mr. EMT

      Flagged for being a moron.

      • Mahatma

        Struck a nerve, didn't I.

        • Mr. EMT

Sure, the “omg what a dumbass” nerve got rung pretty good there little guy.
You hit the wall of stupidity so hard that the only thing left to tell you is… you are a moron.
If you had anything that sounded halfway intelligent, I wold have rebutted it.
However, you went to such depths of idiocy and stupidity the only thing I can do is marvel at how much of a modern medical miracle it is for you to function well enough to type considering most mouth breathing mental midgets drool and slobber and shit thier diapers and play with soft padded toys in round padded rooms.
Yup, sure got that nerve, congrats.

  • TheDickNixon

The left forgets, Bush was running a $400 billion deficit and 5% unemployment. Obama is running a 10% unemployment rate and $1.5 trillion deficit, with no end to either in sight.

Ooops, don't like the facts? Tough shit.

    • Fiza1

Correction, you lie – an initially projected $750 billion deficit for FY-2009, which began Oct 1,2008. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were only funded for 6 months, along with many other gov't operations. These additional expenditures, along with collapsing tax revenues, increased the projected deficit to $one trillion when Obama took office.

      • Mr. EMT

And where did that debt get projected from? Real estate in the form of banking loans going into default over Barney Frank and pelosi and other dem leaders crying outrage over the need to actually regulate who recieves home loans.

Im waiting for the day when people wake up to the massive land grab scheme the government is perpetuating in order to steal land from Americans.
Funny how it is that a bank over extends itself in loans for people who cant afford them and go into default, forcing the bank to confiscate the land, which forces the feds to shut the bank down and the fed to gain control over the real estate.

      • Rcritides
  • TheDickNixon

    From Hotair.com

Hat Tip BB for the graph

    KTVZ reported:

A Government Accountability Office report released Thursday shows that the Department of Energy has spent more than $1.9 billion in stimulus funds to create 10,018 jobs through May, an average of $194,213 spent per full-time job created.

“As a small business owner for nearly 22 years, I’m shocked that these jobs cost taxpayers nearly $195,000 each,” U.S. Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.) said. “Taxpayers deserve more for their investment. This is more evidence that the private sector is far more capable than the federal government at creating the long-term jobs required for a sustainable economic recovery.”

“It looks like the Department of Energy got in over its head when it was handed $6 billion in stimulus money to create jobs by accelerating environmental cleanup work. This report says that DOE managed its timetables well enough, but it also indicates that so far, the jobs that DOE created cost $194,213 each,” said U.S. Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas, ranking member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

  • http://www.wordaroundthenet.com Christopher Taylor

The only response the left have to this is BUSH SUCKS!!!! not “hey, you're right, that's inconsistent and we apologize.” No one is surprised.
