Rep. Darrell Issa: Benghazi is Like Watergate
Congressman Darrell Issa is chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and he is heading up the investigation into the catastrophic failures of the Obama administration that resulted in the terror attacks in Benghazi, Libya in 2012. Now Issa is calling Benghazi Obama’s Watergate.
The congressional investigation of Benghazi “is just in the early stages,” California Rep. Darrell Issa told a group of Republicans at a fundraising reception Thursday night.
Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, also said it’s not inappropriate that eight different congressional committees have investigated the 2012 incident involving deaths of four Americans in the Libyan city, and that the Republican Party’s use of the investigation to raise money is “fair game.”
“Benghazi is just in the early stages,” he told the enthusiastic crowd of Republican donors, elected officials and party activists. “The president can come clean and we can have this done in a few weeks.”
Democrats contend the party is using the investigation to rouse its voter base.
This scandal is one the left wants to ignore. But imagine if a Republican president had failed to prevent the death of a U.S. Ambassador!? The left and their lapdogs in the media would never stop talking about it. But because a left-wing president is responsible for the deaths of so many Americans, well, the media is practically silent.
