So They Called Him Hitler, So What? Grow Up, The Both of You!

You know, I am about sick to death of this childish back and forth between the unhinged left and the oh-so-outraged right on the name calling issue, especially where it concerns the use of the name of humanity’s most evil villain, Hitler. Yeah, they said (put latest politician here) is Hitler. But so what? Let’s stop the foolish waste of time focusing outrageously, outrageous, outrage over the name calling because not only is it human nature to name call, but it is an age-old American political pastime. A little of it is even cathartic. On the other hand if you happen to be the one using Hitler all the time, stop it, you dipwad. Quit the name calling, you creep. Yes, do read on my morons and let’s hash this out, shall we?

It is a simple, historical fact that Americans have been using the most vile names they could think of with which to label their political opponent. No, we haven’t been calling each other Hitler since the founding and only a gutwrenchingly stupid level of moron would think that. Yet I know that at least a percentage of you reading this were thinking just that, intending to use it to show I am an idiot myself. The fact is that each era has had it’s own version of the worst person in the world award, to be sure, and each era has had no less than one slobberingly absurd Olbermannesque person doing the awarding.

In the early founding those that were targeted for attack were called monarchists. That may seem mild now, but it was a particularly un-American name then since we had just split from a monarchy through a difficult 7-year war. If it were religion that was the target subject, the worst that an American could be called in the early days was a “Papist” as Catholicism was considered an evil not much better than a monarchist. Remember, both monarchy and Catholicism were mass murderers at that time. Later if a southerner was called a Yankee, why them was fightin’ words… literally as it turned out. Then there are the hardy, low and vile racial epithets we are all so familiar with. God forbid anyone was called an Irishman after the 1820s and we all know about our long, sad history with the black man in America.

The point I am making is that this “Hitler” thing is nothing new. You can pick any era in American history, any era, and you’ll find movements using the worst rhetoric with which to depict their opponents in order to put them in the worst light possible. There’s truly nothing new under the sun. Only the names have been changed to diminish the truth!

Naturally, this over-the-top name calling was and almost always IS as stupid as the day is long. It is rarely a fitting, factual way to describe the enemy. If you are a liberal that called Bush Hitler, you are too stupid to be allowed to breed or be allowed in public without a tether and a keeper. Such liberals are so stupid that it is amazing that their brains can produce enough power to blink. It would not be surprising if these morons were so stupid that they’d have to be reminded to draw a breath every few seconds. And, yes you righties are no better when you say that Obama is Hitler. Obama is probably the worst president in history, he may be a socialist, he may even reek of some fascist tendencies, but Hitler? Hardly. Now stop your mouth breathing and get back to your six pack.

Let’s just look at the latest effort by the “tolerant left” to bring truth to power. Who is Hitler this week? The latest is Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin whose only interest is a balanced state budget. Yeah, he’s “just like Hitler” because we all know that Hitler is most famous for his brutal budgeting. That whole world domination thing was nothing compared to his tough finical negotiations. (Let me make this paragraph clear to some of you lowlife liberals reading this: I was using sarcasm. Walker is not in ANY way “like” Hitler. Now please, some of you get these so-called teachers in Wisconsin some education, will you?)

Yes, you union thugs in Wisconsin calling Walker Hitler truly do need your tiny little brains examined, if so small an object could withstand that examination. But also, conservatives, we understand that these union twits did it and we should… stop getting so overly outraged about it.

Here’s another fact for you. Leftists are hypocrites and their lapdogs in the media are lying, liars. All during the summer of 2009 we saw story after story promulgated by the old media and its lowlivian punditry class depicting Tea Party patriots as employing the most vile rhetoric. Tea Partiers were called “angry,” they were called “uncivil.” These same stories were dusted off a few months ago when Representative Gabbrielle Giffords was shot in Arizona. Once again the unhinged left and its media establishment launched into an attack on the Tea Party and conservatives claiming that their rhetoric was at the root of all of America’s ills.

We also know for a fact that the left media never once reported the Bush+Hitler or Cheney-is-a-murderer rhetoric that every last leftist on the street has since the year 2000 used as a staple in his half-witted brand of political analysis. We also know that the left media has turned a blind eye to the hatespeak that Democrats have used for decades while playing up even the most fringe righty they could find, elevating his guttural groans as indicative of the whole.

The left’s argument goes like this: Hey those tea baggers are calling us Hitler! Tea baggers are evil. People shouldn’t call people Hitler. Heck THEY are really just like Hitler. What did you say? We shouldn’t call anyone Hitler, either? Well, if you say that why didn’t you get mad when your own guys called people Hitler? Oh, you’re a racist, too.

Notice their circular logic? Saying “Hitler” is bad unless they do it and if you complain they are doing it then you must be a hypocrite. It’s one of those two wrongs makes a left deals where in the end only right’s free speech is shut down. And the most vexing fact is, most of the time their claims against the right aren’t even true in the first place!

But, let’s all just grow up, shall we? Even as we’ve always had such over-the-top rhetoric as part of our political scene, the point of the debate has always been moot where it concerns such stupidity. There was a time when if we heard the moron-speak begin to blare we understood that the spittle-dribbling twerps employing that rhetoric was empty of veracity and deserved no respect. Yet at the same time we also cut everyone some slack on employing a “you idiot” here or there. After all, everyone has a moment of frustration where we are so shocked that someone else could possibly think the way they do that about all you can say at first is “you, sir, are an idiot.”

By now I’ll bet I’ve confused the heck out of you. I am decrying name calling, while indulging in it, while at the same time saying don’t worry about it. Well, yes, that is exactly what I am saying. Everyone is name caller. Those that say they aren’t… well, they are lairs. The simple names are brief spites and should be passed over — unless the entire argument is simply nothing but name calling. An “idiot” here or a “moron” there is not consequential. Let’s face it, few people really think that you are a real moron when they call you that. The word is used emotionally and to denote that they think you are incorrect on a particular point. Not that you should be put in a reeducation camp or thrown in jail or, worse yet, be shot on sight. People have no problem think you are “an idiot” on a political point yet still liking you as a person. That is how humans work.

So, grow up. Get over it. If someone calls you a moron in the heat of a political discussion it’s just frustration speaking. And remember YOU do it, too. At the least you are thinking it and that is not much better than saying it.

As to the Hitler references, if you use them you also need to get a brain. There is not now and there has never been an American politician who is “just like Hitler.” There is an old adage that says that the first person that starts calling an enemy “like Hitler” has discredited himself. This adage is nigh on the most perfect one ever imagined because in the American political arena it is a truism. Bush was not Hitler. Obama is not Hitler. Jefferson, Carter, Clinton, Lincoln, Franklin Pierce, Millard Fillmore… none of them are “like” Hitler. Give Hitler a rest, nitwits.

With all this, though, the problem is that the so-called intellectuals have become the nouveau-morons of the era. Imagine what we saw in Wisconsin, after all. Teachers… TEACHERS calling a Wisconsin Governor Hitler! Just this fact alone should be enough to get every teacher in Wisconsin sent back to college and barred from teaching until they can prove that they have learned that a Wisconsin Governor cannot be “like Hitler.”

I guess what I am saying with all this at long last is that the whole discussion is not a simple thing. A little name calling is not the end of the world and doesn’t discredit the caller or the called. A lot of it is clearly a violation of decorum, good sense, and destroys the caller’s legitimacy in every way. But in the end, there isn’t a thing I’ve written here that should surprise anyone. Sure I was being provocative and sharply humorous for effect, but we all instinctively know that what I’ve written here is all true. And this is why it is feigned outrage when we all get so caught up in outrage over the name calling. We all know how much name calling is easily ignored, how much is fighting words and how much simply makes the name caller look like a fool.

So, what’s the answer to all of this? Mostly just ignore the name calling. If you are someone leading a movement and you seriously want change to result from your activism you need to excise with extreme prejudice any of your members using Hitler references. It makes you and your cause look stupid. If you are a member of the media, you need to either report the name calling fairly, or stop reporting it altogether. You discredit your entire profession by being so brazenly partisan on the matter. Sure it is legitimate to point out when the left is hypocritical on the name calling issue, but don’t act as if no one ever name calls.

Also, having Hitler thrown around at us all the time — by all sides — is something we must live with in a society valuing free speech. I’d rather see liberals and the John Birchers always calling people Hitler than have then stopped through some legal maneuver and risk losing my free speech on some other issue in some other way.

Finally, if your first thought is “Hitler” whenever you start thinking about your political opponent, please get a hysterectomy or a vasectomy — depending on your gender — so that your enfeebled mind and bad genetics will die with you and your ignorance won’t be forced on the world through another blighted generation.

Thank you and good night. This one was for you, Daniel.
