Super Peaceful Wall Street Protest Sees 700 Arrested

It’s amazing. The Occupy Wall Street protest is just like one of those gatherings by the TEA Party. Remember when hundreds were arrested at Glenn Beck’s 8/28 gathering? And the big march on Washington? The tax day protest? Oh, wait, there weren’t? But, still, you know it is only the TEA Party that’s violent and lawless

(NY Post[1]) A horde of Wall Street demonstrators shut down the Brooklyn Bridge for 2 1/2 hours this afternoon, halting traffic and clashing as cops arrested as many as 700 on the famed span’s roadway.

About 100 cars were left stranded as the loud, angry crowd covered the crossing from end to end in an inflamed day of demonstrations against high unemployment, bank bailouts and financial pain for the masses.

One irate driver, a Ground Zero construction worker, blasted the pedestrians.

“I work my ass off all day, and these goddamned hippies close down the Brooklyn Bridge so I can’t get home?” he said. “This ain’t right!”

Oh, come on, Irate Driver, why are you so selfish? All they’re trying to do is, um, well, not really clear, beyond “Solidarity Forever![2]”

See, the dirty smelly hippies who want free money or something had the bright idea to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, and, about halfway across, many decided that it would be a great idea to walk in the road, instead of the side walkways. Because getting in front of moving traffic is one of those spectacular ideas only barking moonbats come up with.

Demonstrators lit up Twitter, slamming the NYPD for allegedly arresting young teens and cramming people into vans “with no air.”

If you aren’t willing to do the time, don’t do the crime. Actions have consequences, chumps.

Occupy Wall Street urged people to give them information about officers who were making arrests.

“To anyone who has seen officer badges, pics, etc. We name and shame,” the group tweeted.

Perhaps the NYPD should arrest some of the groups leaders, as that seems like a threat. But, don’t say the leftists aren’t peaceful. Because they’ll get their funky smell all over you. And threaten you.

(NY Times[3]) Mr. Dunn said he was concerned that those in the back of the column who might not have heard the warnings “would have had no idea that it was not O.K. to walk on the roadway of the bridge.” Mr. Browne said that people who were in the rear of the crowd that may not have heard the warnings were not arrested and were free to leave.

Because we all know that it hunky dorey to walk in the middle of the road on a bridge in the middle of the afternoon.

Etan Ben-Ami, 56, a psychotherapist from Brooklyn who was up on the walkway, said that the police seemed to make a conscious decision to allow the protesters to claim the road. “They weren’t pushed back,” he said. “It seemed that they moved at the same time.”

Mr. Ben-Ami said he left the walkway and joined the crowd on the road. “It seemed completely permitted,” he said. “There wasn’t a single policeman saying ‘don’t do this’.”

Liberal world at its finest: they need to be told that it is a Bad Idea (and illegal) to walk in the street.

Why were these peaceful protestors arrested? Has our Mayor determined that the growing anti-Wall Street demonstration might gain even more momentum and embarrass his Wall Street friends? What happened to free speech?

That comes from the comments at the Times’ story. They were not expressing their 1st Amendment Rights and “demonstrating peaceably.”
