Unprecedented: Calderon Slams US From House Floor. Receives Standing Ovation
Written By : Lori Ziganto

Unprecedented, indeed. But, not surprising, given that our own President has done nothing but the same. I’m wondering if Calderon at least read the Arizona bill first, before demonizing an American state. That would actually be unprecedented, amongst our alleged leaders, at least.

President Obama, for once, forewent bowing. Not to worry, though! The Democrats in Congress picked up his slack and went one further. Standing ovations!

For a foreign leader bashing an American state. From our own House floor.

Not only do the Democrats fail to figuratively stand up for America, but they literally stand up for and applaud those who seek to condemn it. Worse, it is condemnation from the foreign leader whose own country is a primary source of our illegal immigration issues. All compounded by the fact that Arizona was forced to try to deal with their immense problem on their own, since the weak-willed and spineless folks in attendance at the Joint Meeting of Congress refused to do so. You know, the very same ones who are breathlessly applauding and jumping to their feet in sycophantic grand-standing, including two, Janet Napolitano and Eric Holder, who have admitted to not reading the 16 page law. Which I’ve read and can comprehend. Granted, I’m no community organizer or an (alleged) lawyer, but still.

Allahpundit at Hot Air notes:

It’s a repulsive spectacle. And as bad as it is, it’s not even the most audacious bit of meddling that Calderon did today. Brace yourself for this.

On the gun question, Mr. Calderón said: “We have seized 75,000 guns and assault weapons in Mexico in the past three years, and more than 80 percent of those we have been able to trace came from the United States.”

He said it did not seem coincidental that violence in Mexico had begun to grow in 2006, not long after the weapons ban expired in the United States.

That’s right. WE are the source of Mexico’s problems, according to Calderon. If only we had weapons bans, Mexico would be free of crime and violence!

On the plus side, at least we can save some tax-payer cash. There is no longer a need for Obama to travel to commence apology tours. Now, he just invites the foreign leaders here where he apologizes and they bash.

From our House floor.

To cheers and ovations. Remember that, in November. Remember who cheered the bashing of an American state and the denigration of American citizens. For passing a law necessitated by the fact that the federal government themselves refused to act. Arizona is just doing the job the federal government doesn’t want to do.

Calderon hasn't read the bill because he doesn't read, write, or speak the lingo of his subjects norte of el bordero.''

He talks of assault weapons being shipped into mehico but fails to mention that it was Bush that answered his pleas of help with 1.4 Billion in military vehicles and weapons. Do ya think some of the mehican military MIGHT have some ties to the drug cartels and either sold or GAVE them some of the weapons that the silly gringos gave them. All the 'assault weapons' that can be bought in country are SEMI automatic. A REAL assault weapon has a full automatic capability which makes it a military grade weapon.

Now class, what kind of weapons are the cartels reportedly using?? That's correct, fully automatic assault weapons. And which entity has access (legally) to fully automatic weapons and can ship them out of the country??? That's correct, the US government. Now, extrapolating all the above information and adding the corruption factor of the Mehican government, who can tell me how the weapons end up in the hands of the cartels?

A correct answer will earn you a gold star for the day.

The drug cartels have contacts inside the Mexican military and are getting weapons from them. Where's my star?

      • Mr. EMT

Most of the muscle in cartels ARE the federales and military.

      • King Homer

Correcto mundo senor meester! Your star is in the mail!

Then later on he went to CNN and admitted to Wolf Blitzer that everything he condemned in the Arizona law, Mexico has done for decades.

Exactly! It's as though he's never mastered the most elemental rule known to humans – treat others in the way you wish to be treated by them. It's been said myriad different ways over the millenia, but they all lead back to the basic theme – what goes around, comes around.

I think Mexico would be a great ally in drug enforcement and illegal alien retention… if they had incentive.
Send the bill for deporting aliens back home to their motherland in the form of import/export taxes.
Any one crossing the border to commit crimes against citizens of the US, deport them in coffins.

  • BIG_RWN

I have a simple solution for Mexico to prevent the spread of illegal weapons into their nation from the USA. They should build a huge security fence along her northern border and stop the flow of the terrible weapons into their country.

  • StanW

It is obvious from the words of the Mexican President that our border security issue is completely out of control an unmanagable. It is just TERRIBLE that American guns so easily get across the border into Mexico.

The solution is obvious. Mexico knows all the answers. All we need to do is to protect our Souther border in the EXACT same manner that Mexico protects its Southern border.

There, that will solve the problem!

This is the first time that “looking to foreign law” actually appeals to me.

Heck, Doug wrote the best line about this over at Michelle's blog:

If Jan Brewer had been the territorial governor of Hawaii in 1941 and these same Democrats were in charge, they would have applauded the Pearl Harbor attack, had a State Dinner for Hirohito, and the memorable quote from Obama’s post-attack speech would have been, “The only thing we have to fear is that the Hawaiian authorities will start profiling Japanese.”

That's just about covers this gaggle of Idiotic congresional geese..

  • UFKA_Smithwick

Hmm . . . .this gives me an idea.

For every illegal you let cross your norther border in to the US (and the Mexican authorities are very complicit with it) we will send 1 fully loaded automatic weapon your way.

Better do something quick or you'll be the victim of a rather violent coup.
