We Will Always Need More Taxes


According to President Obama, there is no longer any doubt that America needs to raise taxes yet again.

In his interview with CBS that aired just before the Super Bowl, the president stated “there is no doubt we need additional revenue coupled with smart spending reductions in order to bring down our deficit, and we can do it in a gradual way so it doesn’t have a huge impact.”

According to Bloomberg.com, Obama isn’t demanding higher tax rates anymore; he apparently got what he wanted in the Fiscal Cliff deal, and doesn’t want to re-open that can of worms quite yet — though Democratic demagoguing definitely suggests that the issue of raising rates will definitely be brought up again soon.

There is one important thing that all Americans should remember when it comes to Democrats talking about “balanced” approaches and the need for more taxes: we still have no budget. This should be an instant credibility-killer for any Democrat who even thinks about blaming our nation’s economic problems on Republicans.

In addition to that, President Obama has lost all credibility himself to talk about deficit reduction, “balanced” approaches, and paying down our debt. He has consistently been the biggest-spending President in US history. Every one of his proposed budgets was so bad he couldn’t even get any support for them from members of his own party, and apparently he was so busy with the campaign last year that no one in the White House could be bothered to put together a budget proposal for this year — the Administration just missed their legally-mandated deadline for submitting a budget to Congress.

The simple truth is that the President of the United States only cares about protecting our nation financially only in so far as he can use the right rhetoric to smear his political enemies. The entire Democratic Party has turned their backs on our nation’s financial future, choosing to use bribes in the form of government programs to prop up their own power base. It doesn’t matter how many times, or how many ways the president and his allies call for tax hikes — they can call it “increasing revenue,” they can call it “fairness,” they can call it whatever they want. In the end, no matter what it’s called, it spells bad news for America, because taxes will never be high enough to pay for everything the Democrats demand.
